Position Title: Project Engineer
Reports To: Manager, Project Engineering and Execution
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid) or Remote (non-local)
We have an immediate opening for a position as Project Engineer; a position where you will gain experience in a wide variety of areas. While KSB is a pump and mixer manufacturer, we are also a solutions provider. The Project Engineer will work to develop solutions in many engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, fluid dynamics, and instrumentation & control. Your project management skills will also be developed and strengthened.
This position is responsible for managing all facets of the project from customer purchase order through jobsite installation. The Project Engineer is responsible for review of customer’s specifications in comparison to KSB’s technical offer and creating corresponding submittal documentation used to gain customer’s approval and release to manufacture. Additionally, the Project Engineer will be responsible for meeting or exceeding the expected completion time and project financial performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage projects in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
- Inspire confidence with KSB customers regarding project timing, requests for information, change management, design issues, etc.
- Develop project plans, schedule and milestones. Track project milestones and deliverables on an ongoing basis and interact with Engineering and Manufacturing to expedite as needed.
- Interpret and clarify the client's needs to realize their expectations within financial boundaries.
- Consolidate as-sold budgets and control project execution budgets.
- Review municipal water and wastewater specifications and drawings (pump/mixer equipment and associated drives, speed control devices, controls, etc.) to define project scope and deliverables.
- Preparation of technical submittal documents for customer approval including 2D CAD drawings and 3D designs.
- Define and track project success criteria and manage expectations throughout project life cycle.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope and devise contingency plans to address issues.
- Disposition warranty and customer claims with a focus on fulfilling customer expectations. Gather and objectively review technical evidence to develop path forward
- Provide local or remote support as needed to field service team during startup / commissioning activity.
- Support sales team as needed to secure contract awards.
- Process contracts through purchasing and planning software to ensure accurate data is available for reporting.
- Conduct project “lessons learned” meetings that identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Other assignments as necessary to support the business.

- B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum 5+ years experience in Project Management or Project Engineering in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Microsoft Office competency is required.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- P.M.P. Certification is a plus
- Experience with rotating equipment or municipal water treatment equipment.
- Experience with SolidWorks 3D design is preferred. 2D AutoCAD as a minimum.
- Experience with SAP
- Experience with Document Control/Transmittal processes
- Experience with Project Scheduling Software (Project, Primavera, etc.)
