Job Summary:
Toptal is looking for a Senior UX Writer to join our Content Marketing team. This person will be responsible for developing impactful, conversion-focused copy for all Toptal products and platforms.
We are looking for someone who is extremely well-versed in UX writing, content design best practices, and product conversion principles. They will write and present world-class product content optimized for business metrics, and will have the ability to achieve this while maintaining the brand voice and style across all platforms. They will also be an organized and capable multitasker, able to manage workflows, stick to timelines, and manage stakeholder expectations. We are seeking a relentless, creative problem solver who sweats the details, leverages data, is comfortable working with a style guide, and takes great pains to ensure copy is clean before hand-off.
In this role, you will report to the UX Writing Lead and will work cross-functionally with a team of product managers, product designers, engineers, editors, and researchers to strategically communicate Toptal’s narrative and drive action.

Responsibilities:

- Write and edit copy on Toptal’s site, platforms, and portals to exceptional UX standards.
- Continuously elevate the quality of product copy, ensuring it drives key business metrics, is clear and relevant, and compels the right user action.
- Develop content and content strategies tailored to Toptal’s various audiences, including clients and talent.
- Define and apply product copy standards, ensuring that all users have a clear, consistent, and compelling experience.
- Collaborate with product designers and product managers to ensure that UX writing is optimized to achieve the specific key results associated with the given project.
- Where applicable, work with UX researchers to test and iterate on microcopy within the product to improve conversion; use data to ensure content leverages the maximum known and measurable context of the audience’s journey.
- Write clear and concise product specs.
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to other UX writers. Educate cross-functional partners on the role of UX writing and content strategy in the product development process.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Human-Computer Interaction, or a relevant field is required.
- 7+ years of experience working as a UX writer and/or product content strategist for digital products.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as perfect grammar and command of the English language.
- Proven experience and skill writing microcopy, scalable copy, and copy for full-funnel user journeys.
- Experience with user testing and A/B testing, and ability to apply learnings to writing projects.
- Experience working with an in-house growth product team and UX/UI Designers to achieve success collectively.
- Experience in Figma (or similar design software); comfortable using JIRA.
- Demonstrable experience crafting full-funnel user experiences and shaping and influencing UI and UX output.
- Demonstrable experience working with development teams and crafting content approaches that solve technical challenges.
- Experience managing feedback and stakeholder input.
- Comfortable working with ambiguous specifications and helping to provide clarity and find an effective path forward.
- Ability to easily identify user problems and provide content that solves those challenges.
- Experience working within a design system and with systems thinking.
- Ability to work with partners to understand detailed requirements and build copy flows for complete user experiences that balance stakeholder needs with UX best practices.
- Proactive and willing to chase down needed information; not easily dissuaded when obstacles get in the way.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company and handle a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a diverse array of contacts.

US FLSA Classification: Full-Time/Exempt
The US-based salary range for this full-time position is $90,000- $125,000 per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
