Golang Developer - Infrastructure Management

Seeking a Golang Developer with expertise in infrastructure management for a fully remote position, open to candidates based anywhere in the USA.

Summary:

The client is looking for a Backend Engineer with expertise in Golang to work on infrastructure management. This role requires experience with Scylla (distributed databases), Prometheus/Thanos (monitoring and observability), and Kafka (real-time data streaming). The engineer should also be prepared to handle on-call responsibilities, responding to incidents and maintaining system reliability. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both software development and managing backend infrastructure at scale.

1. Golang Development Experience:

• The candidate must have strong experience with Golang development, likely focusing on backend services that support infrastructure management or similar use cases.
• This includes building and maintaining scalable, efficient systems with Golang.

2. Infrastructure Management:

• The role involves knowledge of infrastructure management, which could include deploying, managing, and optimizing backend systems, databases, or distributed environments.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, networking, or other backend infrastructure components will be beneficial.

3. Scylla:

• Scylla is a distributed NoSQL database, often used as a highly scalable alternative to Cassandra. Experience with Scylla indicates that the candidate will likely be working with large-scale, high-performance databases and should be familiar with distributed data architectures.

4. Prometheus / Thanos:

• Prometheus is a monitoring system used to gather metrics, while Thanos is an extension of Prometheus that offers long-term storage and high availability. The client is looking for someone with experience in monitoring infrastructure performance, setting up metrics, and using these tools to ensure system reliability.

5. Kafka:

• Apache Kafka is a distributed event streaming platform used for building real-time data pipelines and applications. The candidate should be familiar with Kafka for handling data streams, message queues, and ensuring system reliability and scalability in distributed systems.

6. On-call Responsibilities:

• The engineer will be part of an on-call rotation, meaning they will be responsible for addressing production issues, troubleshooting, and resolving infrastructure-related incidents. This includes ensuring system uptime and reliability while being ready to react to problems in real time.
