USGBC’s Technology team is seeking a Vice President of IT Enterprise Architecture. This leader will design, mentor, and manage the organization's enterprise IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will attract top-tier talent, deliver innovative, customer-centric solutions, and oversee the architecture team. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position is responsible for day-to-day IT architecture projects and engineering, while driving continuous process improvements and operational efficiencies. The role also involves cross-departmental collaboration on key initiatives and platforms.
This position offers the flexibility to be remote, based within the United States.
Specific Responsibilities:
1) Strategy Execution
- Working with the CIO, develop and maintain the enterprise IT architecture vision and strategy, aligning it with business goals
- Ensure successful execution of business plans to maximize customer satisfaction, profitability, and market share
- Develop short- and long-term IT portfolio and plans to meet organizational needs
- Communicate IT vision, strategy, metrics, annual goals, and success factors to the CIO and other stakeholders
2) Building and Leading a Successful Team
- Recruit and retain top IT talent through systematic and unbiased approaches
- Define SMART delivery goals in alignment with functional leads
- Partner with peers and regional leads to establish strategy and operations plans
- Share best practices and optimize team performance and productivity
3) Managing IT Architecture, Standards, Processes, and Tools
- Oversee day to day operations of IT architecture teams to ensure high quality and user satisfaction
- Plan, design, communicate, and manage IT projects, including tracking and leading system upgrades and replacements
- Standardize tools and processes for agile development, estimation, and deployment
- Monitor projects for adherence to defined IT architecture processes
- Communicate important policy changes that affect internal operations
- Develop and regularly test Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans
- Implement and administer critical security controls
- Manage detailed budgets for capital and operational expenses related to IT architecture efforts
- Monitor and appropriately manage security and system alerts
- Ensure regulatory and audit compliance throughout the IT architecture life cycle
- Manage project related resourcing and address changes to project scopes and resource requirements

Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, related field, or equivalent work experience
- At least 15+ years of experience in IT architecture
- At least 15+ years of experience with enterprise architecture, software architecture, or CRM/ERP development, and Agile practices
- At least 7 years of experience as a team lead
- Proven leadership of a large IT or architecture team
- Proficiency in managing relationships with Vendors/ partners, ensuring effective communication and alignment
- Expert in cloud solutions and applications architecture, especially with AWS/Azure
- Proven experience in the following:
- Hands-on Salesforce development and SAP knowledge required
- Ecommerce platforms and solutioning
- DevOps tools and techniques
- Implementing OAuth2 and REST APIs
- Leading medium to large scale IT initiatives and business transformations
- Maintaining high standards for security and business continuity
- Proficiency in project management methodologies, including Kanban, Agile and Scrum Demonstrated track record that includes working closely with Finance, Sales and Operations for process improvement within IT systems
- Work with vendors and project managers to provide technical solutions for product development
- Successfully managed significant system upgrades and replacements with minimal disruption
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven ability to collaborate with upper management and other IT and business teams
- Well versed in selecting vendors and managing them using performance data
- Set and managed a budget for the department, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information to nontechnical audiences
