The Research Administrator II is responsible for the setup and management of pre-award and post-award activities in the Infectious Diseases (IDS) department as they relate to clinical research billing and invoicing using institutional and research support systems such as Managed Academic Research System (MARS), EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Workday, Oncore, and Ryan White CAREWare Application. This position is critical to ensuring compliance with institutional and sponsors' contracts and ensuring accurate billing and invoicing, especially for patient care costs, for both NIH and Industry awards.

The Department of Infectious Diseases is looking for a detail-oriented Research Administrator II to join their team. The Research Administrator II serves as a key figure in the research mission of the institution. Duties include independently supporting investigators through the entire proposal submission process and post-award activities for a varied portfolio of sponsored awards that may include federal and non-federal grants, contracts, sub-awards, and multiple faculty and locations. The selected candidate, with clinical research experience, will be utilizing the EPIC Electronic Medical Record application along with a number of other financial and reporting applications.

Job Responsibilities:
- Complete new awards' applications and budgets in the Managed Academic Research System (MARS).
- Modify existing MARS applications and budgets as per protocol/contract amendments.
- Request advanced accounts in MARS and ensure approvals prior to initiating patient activities.
- Communicate with sponsors during the initial setup of projects and inquire about delayed budgets/contracts, as applicable.
- Verify the budget’s accuracy once awards are activated by Grants Accounting (GA) and Clinical Trials Financial Office (CTFO) and request modifications, as needed.
- Work closely with CTFO to build accurate protocols' calendars in OnCore and validate these calendars against EPIC orders to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Pull and verify financial reports from OnCore for all Infectious Diseases studies.
- Submit OnCore invoices to grants accounting office for all NIH studies.
- Assist and resolve in CTFO and GA queries as they relate to invoices and payments for IDS studies.
- Initiate requests for changes in staff’s award supported efforts and salary, as needed.
- Train and use the Workday system as required by the institution to meet the needs of the IDS awards.
- Review IDS protocols and communicate with studies' teams regarding the protocol implementation, calendars, and participants’ compensations.
- Review patient charts in EPIC, as needed, and identify research billable patients’ charges.
- Assist in QA/QC activities in the IDS clinical research program, as needed.
- Assist in the data management of the Ryan White CAREWare application and invoice submissions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a business or a related field. Master's degree preferred
Minimum Experience:
- Five (5) years of grant and contract, IRB, IACUC, research administration or related experience is required

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Research Administrator II.
