AltaGas - Tech, Transportation Operations


Reporting to the Senior Specialist, Transportation Operations, the Tech, Transportation Operations, will provide on-site support for midstream-wide transportation initiatives, including training and standardization of policies and procedures.

You Will

  • Review and standardize site-level procedures across midstream transportation. Develop and maintain a gap analysis program to support site improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee the schedule and completion of competency testing. Arrange operational support, including on-site assistance during emergencies and remote guidance when necessary.
  • Set up contingency plans to mitigate operational risks. Assist with the development and implementation of OMS and UOC programs.
  • Participate in annual audits, ensure operating permits are renewed, and track ESG reporting requirements, such as Non-Accidental Releases (NAR).
  • Support investigations of transportation-related incidents, including loading, offloading, and transloading. Maintain relationships with the Canadian Propane Association and ERAC.
  • Develop robust relationships with railways and support first responder training in partnership with stakeholders like CN, CP, and ERAC.
  • Provide on-site support during incidents such as derailments and trucking incidents. Coordinate transloading activities and manage on-scene risks.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of rail and truck facilities. Comply with TDG regulations for safe loading and packaging of shipped products.
  • Participate in EH&S meetings, inspections, and other requirements. Continuously improve skills and knowledge to enhance operator competence.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, report equipment and safety deviations, and complete housekeeping duties to maintain facility integrity.

You Have

  • Strong understanding of facility operations and equipment.
  • Understanding of provincial and state regulatory requirements for industrial rail operations and trucking.
  • Ability to respond quickly to process upsets and maintain safety.
  • Proficiency in TDG regulations and emergency response procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Exhibit and uphold the AltaGas core values.
