Senior Operations Specialist - PlayStation Studios Sound 

Contract position / Contingent worker, 12 month term

 

Are you passionate about building the future of games?  Your role will support a world-class, innovative, and award-winning Sound team for AAA blockbuster games.  The Senior Operations Specialist is responsible for budgeting, planning, reporting, and billing aligned with the strategy, commitments, and goals of the organization. 

The ideal team member will possess budget and resource management experience in the gaming or entertainment industries. You are a meticulous, detail-focused person and creative problem-solver, with outstanding relationship management and communication skills. In this role, you will partner with the Creative Arts finance partners, Sound leadership, Sound production, and other development-focused teams within SIE. 

 

Budget Management 

Capture and communicate Sound department and project needs, by preparing budget updates to ensure accurate entry and approval into financial tracking systems. Collaborate with stakeholders to supervise budget spend to make financial and planning adjustments.  You will supervise the flow and usage of tracking information within the team providing visibility to all stakeholders. 

 

Resource Management 

You will track the allocation of team members’ time towards different game titles and initiatives. Through ongoing analysis of Resource management tools, you will be able to report on variances, future gaps in support and assist with strategy on variable resourcing solutions as it relates to budget. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with the Sound team to prepare budgets, resource management, and tracking documentation across a portfolio of work 

  • Participate in the creation of monthly production reporting regarding project costs and scope 

  • Manage chargebacks, payments, and approvals for projects, resources, and vendors. 

  • Process contract and PO requests with SIE Legal and AP teams for any project-related external costs 

  • Plan and validate data for project budgets, to inform and secure budget approvals 

  • With finance partners, resolve financial tracking and accounting discrepancies in an accurate and timely manner 

  • Coordinate and map account codes to functional parts of the business 

  • Work with Sound Operations and Production Supervisors to address billing inquiries, progress, and actuals 

  • In collaboration with production and finance partners, be a leading voice in setting standards and procedures to achieve operational efficiency 

  • Write and maintain documentation on operational workflows and informational updates 

  • Update and maintain production budget tools and dashboards 

  • Collaborate with other finance and production teams at SIE to cultivate an environment for knowledge sharing. 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 3 years production management, and/or finance experience. 

  • Strong communication skills, both speaking and listening. 

  • Excellent attention to detail. 

Desirable 

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, business administration, or other related fields is required. 

  • Experience with creative production. 

  • Experience with AAA video game production. 

  • Working understanding of SAP, Smartsheet, Monday.com, G-suite, and Concur.
