Job description

Position: Multimedia Journalist

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Cornwall, ON (Remote)

Division: Postmedia Editorial

The Company:

Postmedia is a Canadian news media company representing more than 130 brands across multiple print, online and mobile platforms. Award-winning journalists and innovative product development teams bring engaging content to millions of people every week whenever and wherever they want it.

This exceptional content, reach and scope offer advertisers and marketers compelling solutions to effectively reach target audiences. We are always on the lookout for talented individuals to join our team.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic multimedia journalist for a full-time position within our newsroom. We are the daily news leader covering the communities of Cornwall, Akwesasne, and the United Counties of SDG. This is a full-time position, under our collective agreement with Local 555M, Teamsters/Graphics Communications Conference.

What you’ll do:

You would be filing copy, photos, videos, and other multimedia elements for our website and print editions. You will be expected to handle a wide variety of assignments from breaking news, features, sports, and community event coverage. You'll be part of a three-person team focused on bringing our communities coverage they aren't getting from other local and regional media sources.

Your hours of work will be mostly during the day, but occasionally include evenings, and you would be part of a weekend rotation. This is a remote-work position where you will need to attend events in-person within our coverage area. Given this, access to a reliable vehicle is required.

Who you are:

This position is ideal for a journalist who has a track record of good storytelling, using all the tools available within a modern newsroom to publish those stories in ways that engage our readers across all our print and digital platforms. It's well suited to someone who has been able to find a good balance between working independently and contributing to the team's projects and goals, and thrives on being part of the fabric of a smaller city.

We thank in advance all applicants for their interest, however only those candidates under consideration will be contacted. Only candidates legally eligible to work in Canada will be considered. No phone calls or agencies please.

Postmedia Network Inc. is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities in all areas of the hiring process. If you require accommodation during the hiring process, please make your needs known in advance. Accommodation requests will be provided on an individual basis.

Postmedia Network Inc. is committed to employment equity and an inclusive barrier-free selection process and work environment. Postmedia Network Inc. encourages applications from women, aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.
