GROWMARK FS is headquartered in Milford, Delaware with branches in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. GROWMARK FS has about 500 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 13,000 customers. The cooperative does business in seed, agronomy, energy, crop protection, precision agriculture, and custom application. GROWMARK FS is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Responsible for investigating and verifying financial status and reputation of prospective customers applying for credit, preparing documents to substantiate findings, and recommending rejection or approval of applications. Reviews the status of all delinquent accounts and establishes and maintains the contact with the sales representative, locations, regional manager, credit manager and customer whose accounts are delinquent until mutually satisfactory arrangements have been met.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Collects and insures the accuracy of credit applications.
Generates and collects the necessary information to verify the financial condition and reputation of prospective customers, taking into consideration the entire farm picture (i.e. Farming practices, debt load, repayment capacity and history.)
Responsible for investigation of fraud cases and possible legal action and collection for worthless checks and delinquent accounts in conjunction with credit manager and other credit assistants.
Communicates with GFS’ customers (by phone, letter or field visit) concerning their particular situation and reach a mutual agreement for repayment of account with an attempt to maintain relations for future business.
Monitors accounts receivables and communicates with sales representatives and location personnel to ensure billing is completed accurately and timely, discusses past due balances with sales representatives and regional managers.
Communicates with lenders (i.e., FSA, Banks, Farm Credit) to ensure GFS’ position is positive and current knowledge of specific farming operation and lenders practices.
Works with regional managers to properly record all information including release of liability, insuring all departments (billing and receivables) are notified of claims.
Discusses with sales representatives any unresolved issues.
Promotes and encourages the use of FS Agri Finance

REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires an Associates Degree in Accounting, or the equivalent thereof, and 2 years or more of accounting or credit related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of basic accounting and credit functions.
Must be able to develop and improve proficient use of the PC and software packages utilized by GROWMARK FS.
Must have and maintain valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Ability to travel independently and overnight.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
