Job description

Manager, Data Governance

As the Manager, Data Governance, you will be responsible for building and leading our data governance initiatives, primarily within Salesforce, ensuring that all data is clean, accurate, and a reliable source of truth across the organization. You will guide system owners and collaborate across multiple departments, including Billing, CSR, and Salesforce admin teams. This role is crucial for improving Billtrust’s data accuracy and reliability, with the opportunity to drive high-impact decisions across the business. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Lead and manage a small team focused on executing the data governance strategy. 
  • Develop and implement a data governance strategy for Salesforce and other key business systems. 
  • Oversee Salesforce as the primary system of record, ensuring data is accurate, clean, and reliable. 
  • Identify and resolve critical data issues, such as duplicate records and field inconsistencies. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments like Data Analytics, Revenue Operations, Billing, Product, teams to ensure alignment and support for data initiatives. 
  • Organize and lead monthly data governance meetings to report on progress, strategies, and improvements. 
  • Manage new account creation, data change requests, and maintain a system free of duplicate records. 
  • Guide system owners in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of key data elements. 
  • Assist in field justification exercises for business systems such as Salesforce with stakeholder groups. 
  • Lead data governance activities, including data quality assessment, cataloging, lineage, stewardship, security, and ethics. 
  • Ensure standardization of data definitions, formats, and metadata across systems. 
  • Implement tools and processes to monitor and improve data quality continuously. 
  • Provide regular reports and communication on data governance initiatives. 
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Salesforce record reviews, including service level agreements (SLAs). 
  • Ensure the team meets SLAs while continuously improving overall data quality. 

 

What You’ll Bring:  

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) - 5+ years of relevant experience in Data Governance 
  • Salesforce expertise: Proven experience managing Salesforce as a primary system of record, ensuring data cleanliness and accuracy. 
  • Leadership experience: Demonstrated ability to manage a team, collaborate cross-functionally, and influence stakeholders across different departments (e.g., billing, CSR, Salesforce admin teams). 
  • Data accuracy and remediation skills: Experience in identifying and resolving issues with critical data elements, such as duplicates, incomplete records, and field justifications. 
  • Cross-functional experience: Ability to work closely with multiple teams to drive data governance initiatives and ensure alignment. 
  • Analytical mindset: Strong understanding of data metrics, reporting, and how to leverage data to influence business decisions. 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills: Able to run monthly data governance meetings and report on improvements, strategy, and alignment. 
  • Industry experience in SaaS or Fintech is preferred, though relevant experience from other industries will be considered. 

The expected base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $123,900 annually.
Compensation may vary depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses. Further details will be provided by our Talent Acquisition team during the interview process.
