Location:  Wimbledon (Hybrid, 2 days in office)

Reports to: Head of Trade Marketing.

Scope: Clairol (Nice’n Easy, Root Touch Up)  Silvikrin, Shockwaves, Wella Deluxe

THE ROLE

 

We are actively looking for a Category & Trade Marketing Manager to develop and deliver our category growth plans for both the Hair Colourants and Hair Styling categories in several major UK retailers.

The role requires an individual who can translate multiple sources of insight (consumer, shopper, category and retailer) into compelling insights to drive growth for the category and for Wella.  Success depends on the ability to engage and inspire the customer through creative storytelling linked to tangible recommendations, and to build trusted, enduring customer relationships that ensure Wella has more than its fair share of voice in executional decisions.

Success will be measured through Category Captaincy/Advisory status, Perfect store metrics and innovation/activation KPIs including distribution and merchandising

We are looking for a true team player with the ability to flex across customers and responsibilities and collaborate effectively with the wider Trade Marketing Team which also includes Strategic Revenue Management. The individual will demonstrate strong cross-functional working with the Sales and Brand Team whilst driving a category and shopper-first mentality within the Retail Hair organisation,

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To drive category engagement across selected UK Retail customers through building and nurturing trusted relationships with retailer counterparts at Buyer, Merchandiser and Senior Buyer level. 

Actively translate and tailor Category Visions (1-3 year) and Growth Stories to channel and customer to excite the retailer about the growth opportunities within the category. 

A hands-on approach to data to translate market, retailer consumer and shopper analysis into compelling insights to drive actionable recommendations across all category management levers. 

Leadership and delivery of range Review activities for key customers by consolidating key sources of information and creating a customer and category-centric proposal. 

Ownership of KPIs, category, retailer, and shopper trends to help identify broader business opportunities and inspire creative ideas.  

To help develop the rest of the Retail Hair organisation in basic category management principles 

Provision of regular reporting for internal and external stakeholder; to include monthly retailer reporting, category strategy scorecards, competitor reviews and range review evaluations. 

 Cross-functional working  

Input into the ongoing development of the Category Vision and Drivers and Perfect Store program, ensuring relevance for channel and customer. 

Work with broader Trade Marketing Team, including Trade Marketing, CMI and SRM to ensure that customers and channels are represented in broader decisions 

Be the conduit between Brand Marketing and Sales Teams to ensure Retail Hair strategy is applied, customised and executed with excellence. This includes responsibility for setting and driving accountability for distribution and execution targets for customer and channel for NPD. 

Continue to refine the ways of working for Trade Marketing in Retail Hair, developing efficient in team and cross functional processes 

Be the expert and driver of Category Growth Story and Category Management to improve commercial performance.  

Help shape commercial agenda through provision of relevant category insight.

Operated successfully at NAM / Category Manager/ Buyer/ Trade Marketing level.

Advanced capability in Category Management principles and building Category Visions

Advanced planning and prioritisation skills to be able to manage multiple customers and projects

A proficient understanding of consumer insights and an advanced understanding of shopper and retailer.

Advanced communication and influencing skills.

Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail.

The ability to translate data into compelling insights.

Strong commercial acumen including a high awareness of what it takes to win in the retail and customer environment

A true team-player with the ability to collaborate effectively across a diverse set of roles.
