The Role

We’re looking for a Content Director who can help our clients tell these stories in fresh, innovative ways across a variety of formats and platforms.

As a Content Director at Unlock, you will help oversee the development, execution, and optimization of innovative content strategies that drive audience interest and engagement, brand loyalty, and measurable growth for our clients. The ideal candidate will thrive working cross-collaboratively with our integrated and performance marketing disciplines. What You’ll Do

  • Content Strategy Development: Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive content strategies for healthcare clients, grounded in data insights, user behavior, SEO best practices, and healthcare industry trends
  • Client Partnership & Consultation: Serve as the senior content advisor for key clients, providing thought leadership on content marketing, brand storytelling, digital strategy, and audience-centered engagement
  • Content Strategy Process: Develop and refine processes for content audits, gap analyses, journey mapping, and customer segmentation to inform data-driven content strategies
  • Creativity & Collaboration: Partner with creative, strategy, media, mar-tech, and web dev in conceiving and executing imaginative and innovative content campaigns and experiences
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Manage and mentor team members, including content strategists, writers, editors, and performance/technical writers, ensuring alignment with the agency’s vision for high-quality, impactful content
  • Content Performance: Lead content performance initiatives, ensuring all content is optimized for search, accessibility, and engagement; Monitor KPIs and optimize strategies for improved results
  • Editorial Oversight: Guide the editorial planning process, including the creation of editorial calendars, content governance frameworks, and messaging hierarchies, ensuring all content meets the highest quality standards
  • Innovation & Thought Leadership: Stay ahead of trends in content marketing, healthcare communications, and digital platforms; Regularly contribute to internal and external thought leadership on the value of content in healthcare

Ideal Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of content strategy experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role, preferably in a healthcare or digital agency
  • Proven track record of managing high-profile projects and high-performing content teams, and leading strategic initiatives across multiple engagements
  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare industry, including regulatory environments, patient engagement trends, and digital transformation in healthcare marketing
  • Advanced understanding of content strategy and marketing, including experience driving high-performance content that resonates with target audiences
  • Ability to balance creativity with data-driven decision-making. You know how to craft a compelling story and prove its impact.
  • Passion for staying ahead of trends in content marketing, healthcare communications, and digital platforms
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to inspire internal teams and clients alike
