Job description

The National Contractor Sales Manager plays a critical role in developing and implementing sales strategies that drive revenue growth within the contractor segment. This position involves managing a team of sales professionals, establishing relationships with key clients, and ensuring that sales targets are met across various regions.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Sales Strategies: Create effective sales strategies tailored to the contractor market to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead Sales Team: Supervise and motivate the nationwide sales team to meet or exceed sales targets, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Client Relationship Management: Establish and maintain productive relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate contracts and close agreements with large contractors to secure profitable business deals.
  • Performance Monitoring: Analyze performance metrics, prepare sales forecasts, and suggest improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Market Research: Conduct research to identify new potential customers and market opportunities within the contractor industry.
  • Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with marketing and product development teams to ensure alignment in branding and product offerings.
  • Training and Development: Train and develop the sales team to enhance their skills and effectiveness in selling to contractors.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven work experience as a National Sales Manager or in a similar role, particularly within the construction or contractor sectors.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Ability to work with national agent representative network.
    • Experience effectively promote complex lighting and controls solutions with key decision makers.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset.
    • Ability to travel 50-75% of time for client meetings and industry events.
