Job description

Working as part of the Medical Department you will be instrumental in delivering the medical strategy and building the credibility and reputation of Scope globally, with a particular focus on optometrists, ophthalmologists and other health care professionals and patients.


You will leverage your clinical authority and medical experience cross functionally, working to move innovation forward and to deliver engaging advice and education to internal stakeholders, patients, and HCPs. The role will interact with all elements of our growing business internationally, including quality and regulatory, Marketing, New Product Development, Learning and Development and Commercial, but with a particular focus on the US market and support of initiatives for that market.


A key focus of the medical department is to engage with HCPs and build partnerships KOLs. You will be involved in all the relevant aspects of this including attendance at appropriate congresses/meetings from both an insight gathering and imparting education perspective. Regular travel is required.

 

Key Responsibilities


Medical Information

  • Provide advice as required and in response to medical information queries
  • Support the generation of standard answers to queries and build a database of frequently asked questions for the products
  • Be available to answer customer queries via Zendesk
  • Work with the head of medical to create efficiencies in Scope’s medical information systems


Education

  • Support the development of relevant educational content for internal and external use
  • Bring a US medical affairs perspective to content already generated
  • Deliver educational content to eyecare professionals
  • Work to get CE approved education on podium
  • Drive the Scope professional education strategy in the US


Medical Marketing

  • Provide advice to US Marketing during the development of promotional materials to ensure relevant and substantiated messaging and claims
  • Create content to support the products and disease areas, as needed
  • Work closely with the marketing function and medical colleagues to develop robust patient case studies
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable national laws & regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, Scope’s policies & procedures, and accepted standards of best practice


Scope Professional Website

  • Support the generation of content for the HCP resource website, Scope Connect


Medical Affairs

  • Review and approval of relevant materials
  • Complete literature searches for customers and to support internal concepts and materials
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of clinical research projects within defined standards and budgets, under the guidance of the Head of Medical
  • Keep up to date with relevant therapeutic areas


Medical and Professional Affairs Strategy

  • Work with the Head of Medical to ensure that a robust medical strategy and tactical plan is developed for the US market
  • Support the US Professional Affairs Manager to roll out initiatives

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or a technical field
  • Certification or degree in Optometry or Ophthalmic technology is a plus

 

Skills and Experience

  • Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical / healthcare industry with a demonstrable appreciation for the commercial aspects of the sector at country level
  • Ideally, experience at Global level of an organization and involvement with product development in relation to claims and clinicals
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and work with others diplomatically, and effectively, on complicated subject matter.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English - other language skills are useful
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the science and clinical aspects of a product portfolio
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of competitive study design and execution
  • Excellent planning and organization skills with an ability to work at a strategic level yet also drive daily execution of the plan.
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally and with external stakeholders eg. HCPs, Regulatory Bodies etc.
  • Ability in evaluating current practices of others through questioning.
  • Ability to challenge and influence change
