As the Chief Product Officer reporting to the President of MGA Solutions, you will be responsible for building and managing an innovative and flexible insurance product, actuarial and analytics team supporting the growing MGA product suite.   You will partner closely with each MSI business segment to understand their strategy and design new products to fit specific market needs, while also developing comprehensive actuarial and analytics capabilities to manage underwriting results.  As a critical member of the MSI leadership team, you will drive connectivity and alignment of insurance program priorities and ensure clarity of results and action plans.  Leading a team of 50+ remote colleagues, you will champion inclusion, collaboration and development as the MGA businesses grow and flex over time.

Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing cultivation of product, actuarial and analytics teams and operating model to support evolving product suite. Build out commercial product function (General Liability, Property, Umbrella, D&O, Cyber and other Professional Lines) to provide parallel capabilities to mature personal lines teams
  • Develop an analytics and actuarial roadmap, including advanced data science and catastrophe modeling, to deliver actionable, proprietary insights into market segment and product performance.  Partner with IT function to build access and availability of critical data
  • Create alignment and collaboration across Underwriting, Distribution, Legal/Compliance, Claims and Operations teams ensuring joint prioritization/focus on each program
  • Drive a culture of data-driven decision making by maturing data management and business intelligence capabilities to deliver trusted, governed and timely data to internal and external partners
  • Manage, mentor and develop a diverse group of product managers, actuaries and data and analytics professionals, ensuring defined development and career pathing programs are in place to attract and retain colleagues
  • Partner with leaders to define MSI’s positioning in the marketplace, optimizing placement and creating sustainable carrier / reinsurer relationships. Share results transparently with internal and external stakeholder, overseeing the analysis and reporting of exposure and loss information
  • Understand admitted market dynamics such as state-by-state insurance regulations as well as surplus lines requirements.  Build tools, processes, and documentation to ensure repeatable and compliant product development and implementations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Statistics or related field
  • FCAS/ACAS or advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in Property and Casualty insurance product development and management across a variety of personal and commercial lines and go to market strategies
  • Experience with insurance pricing / ratemaking principles and procedures, as well as policy contract construction and coverage form development
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actions
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build consensus among stakeholders and build an inclusive and engaging environment for remote first colleagues

Location:

  • Remote, with access to local Baldwin Group offices as desired
  • Travel up to 10%
