The Cloud Solution Architect will be responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive solution architectures for the IRS's Systems Retirement Strategies and the Enterprise Architecture Roadmap (EAR). This role includes leveraging the Retirement Strategies to identify and address gaps, understanding current and target state architectures, and providing technical integration support to the Program Management Office (PMO). The architect will conduct architecture impact analysis, develop and maintain retirement roadmaps, and ensure alignment with modernization programs. Additionally, the role involves preparing and conducting stakeholder engagement sessions and supporting executive briefings to secure alignment and concurrence. Key responsibilities include solution architecture development, technical integration support, architecture analysis, retirement strategy planning, and program management activities.

 Job Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive solution architectures for prioritized use cases, leveraging the Retirement Strategy as a baseline. Identify and address gaps, integrating the solution architecture roadmaps with the Enterprise Architecture Roadmap (EAR).
  • Provide technical integration support, assessing impacts on IRS modernization programs. Conduct transition activities for enterprise programs, ensuring alignment and concurrence from related programs and executive approval.
  • Conduct architecture impact analysis, retirement asset inventory, and decommissioning sequencing. Develop current state architectures, map system requirements, and analyze interfaces to support retirement assessments.
  • Develop and maintain a Technology Portfolio Management capability, prioritizing and synchronizing retirement timelines. Create 30/60/90-day plans for incremental delivery, providing transition support to the PMO.
  • Develop a Solution Architecture Execution Plan, track metrics, and report status updates weekly and monthly. Prepare materials for working sessions, technical forums, customer reviews, and support executive briefings to gain concurrence.
  • Conduct stakeholder engagement sessions, including working sessions, technical forums, and customer technical reviews. Support executive briefings to ensure alignment with program leadership. 


Education: 

  • B.S. in technology field computer science, electrical engineering, information systems management, related field of study, or demonstrate equivalent experience in a related field.


Experience:  

  • 7 years of experience


Certifications: 

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or 
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
