Position Description:

Are you a technical writer interested in documenting some new and leading-edge security control requirements for our large government client?  Valiant Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer to join our rapidly growing and innovative cybersecurity team! In this role, you’ll be working to document operational references and security compliance documentation.

Required Experience: 

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in writing, editing, and preparing business or technical documentation for SOPs, user guides/ job aids, workflow diagrams, etc, for a federal agency
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Proficient in utilizing SharePoint Online for document management, collaboration, and content organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Teams 
  • Working knowledge of IT standards and frameworks (at a minimum, NIST and ISO)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Gathers and writes technical documents for information system installation, operation, and maintenance in clear and concise language. 
  • Writes in clear and concise language, technical documents, procedures manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications 
  • Ensures that technical documents are written in a clear, readable format that can be understood by technical and non-technical personnel 
  • Ensures documentation correctly references organizational policies as needed 
  • Reviews, performs quality assurance, and edits applicable materials as needed. 
  • Acquires and verifies knowledge by working closely with stakeholders engaged in developing new products and services as well as making improvements to existing documentation, observing the performance of information system pilots, examining drawings and notes, and reviewing rewrites of articles and manuals or similar publications 
  • Ensures conformance to existing IT standards by revising the text and making recommendations to changes in scope where necessary 
  • Ensures the appropriate use of technical terminology in IT-related documents 
  • Works with system owners and SMEs to understand existing and planned technologies and standards 
  • Writes or edits documentation to include materials for reports, manuals, briefings, proposals, instructional materials, catalogs, and software and hardware documentation 
  • Assist in collecting and organizing information required for the preparation and improvement of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports
  • Update user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents as requested 
  • Write, in coordination with cross-functional IT teams, the on-boarding procedures for IT application engineers and IT Program Managers to integrate or use systems and tools
