We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mortgage Remediation Arrears Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience of dealing with complex debt recovery process which will typically include litigation activity, vulnerable customers, deceased customers, consideration of forbearance options and more complex decision making. Your role is to support them in finding the best possible solution whilst helping to reduce any worries they may have.  

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Communicate directly with borrowers to explain findings and/or discuss remediation options.
  • Process remediation payments and adjustments in loan servicing systems.
  • Undertake administrative tasks; processing activities such as debtor tracing, returned mail and workflow management. These will include:
  • Assessing customers Income & expenditure, ensuring all options are considered and appropriately deployed based on the customer circumstances and affordability
  • Administering post completion underwriting, making risk-based recommendations and referring to client where applicable
  • Negotiating quality payment arrangements ensuring repayment terms are in accordance with company directives and mandates.   
  • Preparing structured, detailed rationales in respect of consideration of legal / enforcement action.
  • Identifying appropriate solutions for customers in financial difficulty (or other vulnerable states), taking due consideration of their individual circumstances, and escalating cases where appropriate
  • Assessing customer’s accounts in accordance with pre-determined policies & procedures ensuring forbearance has been utilised where appropriate
  • Treating our customers fairly ensuring they have a fair and compliant outcome

Requirements

The ideal Candidate will have the following experience:

  • Working within a Regulated Mortgage Industry
  • Collections / Recoveries processes
  • History of managing customers facing hardship and proficient in forbearance treatments
  • Proficient in, and familiar with loan servicing / claim management databases and software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively handle vulnerable customers.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Customer service or in a client-facing role.
  • Underwriting in a financial servicing environment

 Working knowledge of:

  • All regulations governing secured and unsecured collections and payment card processing e.g. DPA, Anti Money Laundering, Complaints, Principle 6 (Treating Customers Fairly), CCA CONC, MCOB Rules and PCI DSS requirements
