Job Summary:
The Special Investigator, DIU is responsible for the day to day in-house investigations of potentially fraudulent workers’ compensation claims. Utilizing a combination of designated investigative tools, public records, and open-source web data, the individual is expected to complete desktop investigations with efficiency and attention to detail. Special Investigator, Digital Intelligence Unit
Reports to: Client Relations & Digital Investigations Manager
Wage Range: $15.00-$17.00 per hour plus commission of up to $3.00 per hour depending on the services.
Responsibilities
Performs desktop investigations such as background checks, social media searches, court record searches, medical canvasses, etc.
Documents investigative findings
Generates and authors investigative reports
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., however additional hours are expected to meet the business needs.
Education/Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent;
Prior investigative experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong analytical and research skills
Strong computer and internet skills
Familiarity with popular social media platforms
Understanding of local court systems
Creative thinking and ability to solve complex problems
Excellent written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and/or prioritize workload accordingly
