Job Overview & Responsibilities:

The Manager, Benefits & HRIS is responsible for the management oversight and administration of employee health and welfare programs, Leave management, retirement program, HR systems management, employee data/reporting, AAP and other associated compliance activities, and policies and procedures development. This role manages our benefit vendor relationships, renewals, open enrollment process, employee benefit inquiries and works with our brokers/advisors on claims processes and resolutions. The Manager, Benefits & HRIS works closely with other members of the HR team to support benefit matters, onboarding activities, training and reporting. This role provides oversight, guidance and reporting utilizing our HR systems and manages the integrity of the data and system operations. This role also ensures compliance with reporting requirements as mandated by Federal and State laws. Works under only very general direction, independently determines and develops approaches to solutions.  Frequent inter-company and external contacts, representing the company in the execution of this role.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Manage and administer the employee benefits program, to include, but not limited to health, dental, and vision plans, EAP, life insurance, short and long-term disability, 401(k) retirement plan and other voluntary program plans.
  • Obtain and negotiate agreements with providers and monitors compliance and implementation of agreements.
  • Research and recommend benefits costs containment strategies and options.
  • Manage and schedule employee benefits enrollment and insurance premium payment processing.
  • Ensure proper collection and maintenance of employee documentation and personnel files. Manage the on-boarding and off-boarding HR system processes for employees.
  • Primary interface with the payroll department for processing of HR data.
  • Administer the company’s leave programs and train managers.
  • Develop strategies and administer the company’s wellness programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and correspond with various internal and external customers, such as external agencies and benefit plan administrators and internal staff and departments.
  • Manage the HR systems (UKG Pro/iCIMS, HSI, FMLA Manager, etc.) to include implementing new modules, testing, leveraging automated processes and reporting tools. Identify changing systems needs due to legal or contractual changes affecting benefits.
  • Responsible for preparation of the annual affirmative action plans for all Company locations in support of OFCCP/AAP compliance and reporting the results internally to the HR team and the Executive Committee for response and action.
  • Research and evaluate complex human resource and employee benefit issues; develop effective solutions and options; develop costing and implementation proposals.
  • Provide benefit expertise and support to M & A activities.
  • Participate in strategic planning for human resource functions and services; recommend goals and objectives and oversees and/or participates in the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures to include the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge and expertise in employee benefit services, make recommendations on pending legislative actions regarding benefits, conduct benefits research, respond to benefits issues, and answer benefits queries.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legal regulations, industry trends and best practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes and to ensure company legal compliance with Federal and State laws, including, but not limited to Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), etc.
  • Participate in team projects, training, and handle other duties as required.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 7-10 years progressive HR experience including 4 years of benefits administration and HR systems experience.
  • 1-3 yrs of experience with UKG Pro.
  • Knowledge of iCIMS is preferred.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) preferred.
  • Experience with developing and implementing employee benefit programs and human resources information systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications, data query tools, MS Office applications, and internet search tools.
  • Working knowledge of human resources management principles and practices in all human resources programs.
