Senior Engineer, NOC - Job Description

We are seeking a Senior NOC Engineer responsible for maintaining a stable and secure IT environment for our clients while addressing potential issues before they escalate. The ideal candidate is a proactive and self-driven problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced setting and uses logical approaches to resolve technical issues. This role focuses on ensuring optimal network performance and performing routine maintenance of network devices. A deep understanding of our clients' businesses and how their IT infrastructure impacts daily operations is crucial. The candidate must value best practices, anticipate potential outcomes, and effectively manage high-pressure client situations while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting related to patching, backups, and other incidents.
  • Use diagnostic tools to monitor and evaluate the health of clients' IT environments, addressing alerts promptly.
  • Troubleshoot network issues, conduct audits, and perform routine maintenance on both internal and client networks.
  • Develop and refine standard processes to ensure optimal availability and security for clients.
  • Deploy new standards and complete requested tasks within defined timelines.
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members to address critical security vulnerabilities, including zero-day threats.
  • Follow established internal processes, providing feedback for improvements and identifying areas of concern.
  • Optimize system operations, monitor resource utilization, and conduct capacity planning.
  • Ensure system stability, security, and integrity; respond to outages and other system alerts.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service with minimal supervision.
  • Occasional travel to client sites (20%).

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Network Engineer or Network Administrator.
  • Proficiency with Windows 10, Windows Server 2008+, Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting TCP/IP networks and dynamic routing protocols (e.g., OSPF).
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2013+, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (vSphere 6.5, Hyper-V) in high-availability environments.
  • Knowledge of backup software configuration.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Client-facing experience and ability to work independently.
