About the Role:

As a Snowflake Architect working on the DoD’s Analytics Platform, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable and secure cloud-based data solutions using Snowflake. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud data architecture and Snowflake-specific optimizations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the platform meets data governance, security, and performance requirements essential to the Department of Defense (DoD).

Key Responsibilities:

• Architecture Design: Develop and implement scalable Snowflake architecture to support large-scale data processing and analytical workloads.
  
• Data Modeling: Design advanced data models, schemas, and data flows optimized for Snowflake, ensuring efficient data access and query performance.
  
• Performance Optimization: Implement partitioning, clustering, and tuning strategies to handle vast datasets and improve query execution times.
  
• Cloud Integration: Integrate Snowflake with cloud services (AWS, Azure) and other DoD-approved infrastructure components.
  
• Data Governance & Security: Ensure data models and architecture comply with DoD’s IL5/IL6 security standards, role-based access controls (RBAC), encryption, and auditing requirements.
  
• Collaboration: Work with data engineers, data scientists, and DoD stakeholders to meet operational and analytical data needs.
  
• Technology Roadmap: Develop strategies for evolving the Snowflake platform in alignment with the DoD's data strategy and analytics goals.
  

Required Qualifications:

• Experience:
  
• 7+ years in data architecture, cloud solutions, or related fields.
  
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake architecture and advanced features.
  
• Technical Skills:
  
• Expertise in SQL, Snowflake-specific features (e.g., Time Travel, Data Sharing, Streams, Tasks).
  
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), focusing on data storage, processing, and integration.
  
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, dbt, or custom Python pipelines).
  
• Security Clearance: Active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance (Top Secret/SCI preferred).
  
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead data architecture projects in secure environments.
  
• Data Governance: Strong understanding of DoD’s data governance and privacy regulations, ensuring compliance in architecture designs.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications:
  
• Snowflake SnowPro Certification or other cloud-related certifications (AWS/Azure).
  
• Security Certifications are relevant to working in DoD spaces.
  
• Big Data Tools: Familiarity with Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka for handling large-scale data ingestion and processing.
  
• DevOps Practices: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated data workflows in a cloud environment.
