As Senior Safety Engineer your essential job functions will include the following:
Safety Program
- Assist in establishing safety rules, regulations and standards for all distribution centers.
- Evaluate and refine accident investigation procedures.
- Monitor changes to governmental safety regulations at all distribution center locations and update safety strategy and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Monitor safety tracking and reporting; align interventions and strategy adjustments to address negative trends in safety issues.
- Audit distribution centers for operational and system integrity and their use of established best practices as they relate to new and existing programs.
- Ensure all distribution center safety procedures and policies are documented and kept up-to-date.
- Ensure distribution centers meet all DOT requirements and safety regulations.
Security Program
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the security strategy.
- Assist in the review, selection and management of security equipment, services and systems.
- Perform and/or recommend inventory audits to identify actual or potential occurrences of shrinkage.
- Perform and/or recommend audits of buildings, equipment and other company property to identify actual or potential for theft and/or vandalism. Ensure audit findings are communicated along with root cause and recommend corrective action.
Leadership, Mentoring & Coaching
- Provide guidance, management, coaching and direction to team.
- Develop a team environment that values diversity and use various individual’s strengths to the benefit of the team.
- Set clear and lofty goals for self and team members, as well as for the organization, and pursue them with enthusiasm and energy.
- Maintain high level of business acumen expertise, applicable to current industry conditions.
Other Duties as Assigned
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 7 to 10 years of experience in safety related field.
- Experience in security and asset protection preferred.
- Experience in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulatory compliance including hours of service, vehicle inspections and maintenance, driver qualification, and record keeping.
- Experience dealing with OSHA and similar US agencies preferred.
- Project management experience with training in Lean and/or 6 Sigma is desired.
- Safety certifications such as CSP, or CSHM desired.
- Ability to develop effective relationships, provide leadership and integrate diverse organizations and individuals towards profitability and accuracy objectives.
- Must meet the requirements of Dealer Tire’s Motor Vehicle Record Policy and Company Vehicle Fleet Policy.

Physical Job Requirements
- Sitting for long periods of time.
- Continuous viewing from and inputting data to a computer screen.
- Lifting at least 40 pounds.
- Some bending, twisting and crouching.
- Travel up to 50%.

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The total compensation package may also include commission, bonus or profit sharing. Base Pay Range:
$110,000.00 - $125,000.00
