This role reports to the Sales Director of Animal Safety for the iEMEA Region and is responsible for revenue generation for Neogen’s Animal Safety business in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
 

The Head of Sales - Animal Safety, is a commercial leader with a high sense of urgency who thrives in a high-growth environment. This position is a cross functional position requiring the ability to work across the regional organisation, including sales teams (territory managers, country-based field sales and strategic account managers), marketing, product development, R&D and other regional staff to qualify opportunities and execute a commercial strategy and plan for the region. 
 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of the Animal Safety strategy to market and provide strategic support on projects and activities of the sales, marketing and technical groups for the achievement of short- and long-term business objectives, increased sales, market share and profitability.
  • Identifying and developing new and growth business opportunities, whilst driving the growth of key brands.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly forecast statements
  • Championing the development of new methods of customer interaction (including non-traditional marketing channels), new initiatives (such as new products, new marketing techniques, new advertising campaigns) and leveraging technology to achieve optimal customer experience.
  • Execute the iEMEA regional growth strategy for Animal Safety business.
  • Lead a team to grow market share and revenue to establish Neogen’s presence in the sector.
  • Develop a pipeline/portfolio strategy and “go to market” plan including resource requirements, market priorities and product priorities.
  • Performing business justifications and needs analysis of existing and potential customers to discover, document and meet those needs.
  • Achieve annual sales goals.
  • A Sr. Sales Manager is responsible for developing a sales team, coordinating sales operations, and implementing sales techniques that allow the business to meet and surpass its sales targets consistently. They work with big profile customers, evaluate budgets, and determine ways to simplify and improve the sales process.
  • Ability to communicate, inspire and motivate.
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and good people management skills.
  • Excellent time management skills to maximise their ability to reach goals.
  • Ability to identify, recruit and hire talented sales reps.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for sales management and business growth aligned to the strategy of Neogen manufactured products, and wider Animal Safety portfolio.
  • Develop and generate sales to meet or exceed budgeted sales revenues for products.
  • Assist with general financial management of the territory, including setting budgets, obtaining forecasts, preparing reports as required.
  • Support, drive and generate new business with existing direct accounts, looking for opportunities to cross sell and grow business.
  • Receive and respond rapidly to customer enquiries, using all resources available.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the products and services supplied and the national regulatory requirements. Ability to discuss and demonstrate all products in front of potential customers if required.
  • Be responsible for the first level of customer support regarding technical issues, complaints, and product applications.
  • Extensive use of CRM providing updated and accurate information.
  • Liaise closely with the Technical and R&D functions for support, knowledge share and, if required, to visit target customers.
  • Provide monthly written report on sales and customer activities plus development of customer base.
  • Market Research – gain market knowledge and instruct follow up on marketing or customer mailings.
  • Support the customer services team answering queries, customer enquiries, and complaints.
  • Liaise with operations for order priority planning and fulfilment.

Education & Experience required:   

  • Relevant degree qualification (scientific, marketing or business qualification preferred). 
  • A Persuasive sales leader focused on solution selling.
  • Significant prior Animal Safety documented commercial experience.
  • Previous earlier career sales experience in a technical sales role for Animal Safety related sales.
  • Experience with Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Customer (B2C).
  • The ability to build rapport with key clients.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and leadership skills.

The ideal candidate will be based in the Manchester area, but we will consider applications on a

remote basis from around the UK.
