Scopely is looking for a Principal Game Engineer to join our team remotely within the US.

What You Will Do

  • As an experienced Principal Gameplay Engineer, you will develop core gameplay features on our next-generation cross-platform game. The ideal candidate will possess broad technical expertise in PC, mobile, and console development, with deep experience in gameplay systems, multiplayer architecture, and game data management. You will work closely with designers, artists, and engineers to create seamless, scalable, and performance-driven gameplay experiences for mobile and other platforms.
  • Gameplay Development: Design and implement core gameplay features, focusing on scalable systems for large-scale, cross-platform, multiplayer environments.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Drive solution development and architectures for complex technical challenges in multiplayer, data handling, platform services, and performance.
  • Multiplayer Systems: Develop efficient systems, handling synchronization, game state management, and designing robust game data structures for high player concurrency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teams (design, art, audio, etc.) to seamlessly integrate gameplay mechanics and features across platforms.
  • Optimization & Performance: Continuously profile and optimize code to ensure low-latency, high-performance gameplay on mobile and other platforms

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of professional game development experience, with a focus on mobile platforms. At least 5 years in a senior or lead gameplay engineering role.
  • Proven expertise in gameplay development, multiplayer systems, and game data management.
  • Strong proficiency in C++, C#, or other relevant programming languages.
  • Deep expertise with Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of mobile performance optimization and game development best practices.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering scalable solutions in complex environments.
  • Experience in multiplayer networking and server-client architectures.
  • Knowledge of backend services, cloud-based systems, and infrastructure

For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $194,200 - $250,000, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
