Role Summary:

In this role, you will assist in the development and implementation of energy efficiency projects for various building types. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers early in their careers to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. This role will support projects from site audit, through efficiency measure identification and development, and then through implementation and construction. The focus of this role will be to support the work of Senior Project Development Engineers/Development Managers in performing on-site audits, identifying project measures, developing actionable scopes of work, building energy savings models, researching incentive opportunities, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to build project budgets, and supporting the delivery teams as a technical resource during project implementations.

 

What would you be doing at Dalkia?

 

  • Assist in the development of energy efficiency projects, including conducting preliminary site audits and data collection. This does require travel to job sites across the U.S. during ~25% of the time (about 3-4 overnight stays/month).
  • Conduct field analysis of mechanical systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform analysis on a variety of data sets such as TMY weather data, equipment specification/design data, and metered power, flow, temperature, and pressure data.
  • Support senior engineers in performing energy/monetary savings calculations and creating custom energy savings workbooks.
  • Support technical project development with the creation of drawings, diagrams, written scopes of work, RFP documents, and field verification of building systems.
  • Participate in the design and budgeting of energy efficiency measures.
  • Provide technical support to project implementation teams (project managers, project coordinators, subcontractors, and external clients) to help ensure the execution of projects per design intent.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and improve innovative solution offerings for clients.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Learning! Attend training, webinars, etc. Pursue certifications of interest such as P.E., CEM, and CMVP. Coordinate technical and new technology learning sessions with vendor partners for the broader project development team.
  • Ability to work independently or collaborate with a broader team.

 

 

What is Dalkia looking for in a successful candidate?

 

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the energy efficiency industry or a related field.
  • General understanding of energy efficiency principles and building systems.
    • HVAC, steam, compressed air, chillers, lighting, Building Management Systems (BMS), Refrigeration
  • Experience in and ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and particularly Microsoft Excel for the creation of custom energy savings models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with energy modeling and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other similar software.
  • Knowledge of metering software and devices. 
  • Public speaking & presentation skills
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
