Job description

Redfin is redefining real estate in the consumer's favor by combining our own technology and agents to create a service that’s better, faster, and costs less. We’re looking for a compensation expert to develop, maintain, and assess a portfolio of sales compensation plans for our employee agents and sales leaders, from the front line to directors, as well as sales roles in our digital revenue and partner program teams.

As Redfin’s principal sales compensation manager, you’ll work directly with executives and other senior leaders to understand business objectives and make data-driven recommendations for sales compensation strategies. You’ll work on programs that impact dozens to thousands of sales people.

This role reports to Redfin’s Director of Agent & Manager Programs, along with senior leaders who oversee employee initiatives. This role collaborates with a broad set of cross-functional partners, and currently has no direct reports.

What You’ll Do

  • You will own a portfolio of sales compensation plans, developing some from the ground up as well as iterating and improving existing plans. You’ll use your understanding of Redfin’s business to align incentives among various groups to simplify and drive maximum impact.
  • You’ll hold yourself and your partners to rigorous standards for smart plan design, accuracy, and innovation. You’ll proactively identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to sales compensation, taking appropriate action to ensure accuracy and fairness for all employees.
  • You’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves and wearing multiple hats, but also holding your partners accountable, to get things across the finish line.
  • Redfin is agile and takes quick actions to adapt to market and industry changes. To be successful, you need to embrace changes with positivity and feel comfortable with working in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

Who You Are

  • Sales Compensation Expert: You have 8+ years of experience in running large scale compensation programs that deliver results, positively impact financial performance, competitive standing, and customer service. You stay up to date on industry trends, and know how to navigate policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance with company and legal standards.
  • Data-Driven: You have a strong intuition for the numbers that matter. You use sales metrics to identify opportunities and analyze results, and partner closely with your colleagues to project program costs and impact. You’re a detail-oriented problem solver.
  • Analytical: You’re comfortable analyzing complex data sets, working with advanced spreadsheet skills (pivot, look-ups, macros, etc.), using SQL, and ideally Tableau and Workday too.
  • Collaborative:  You’ll effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with multiple disciplines at all levels, working closely with sales leaders, finance, HR, legal, and program teams.
  • Crisp Communicator: You can craft a compelling message to your audience, whether it’s a room of project stakeholders, an audience of salespeople, or a proposal to executives about our compensation strategy. You’re a great listener, who can communicate clearly to a variety of audiences in documents, slides, or presentations.
  • Passionate about Real Estate: Especially when it comes to technology and putting consumers first. Industry experience is not required but is valued.

To make sure we hire the most qualified people, we’ve designed a multi-step selection process that will include interviews and a reference check. We’re excited to get to know you and hope you’re ready to give this opportunity everything you’ve got!
