Description Of Work Unit

Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities.

The Association for Undergraduate Education at Research Universities ( UERU ) has been hosted by CSU since 2013 and is housed in the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President. UERU is an independent national higher education association hosted and supported by CSU . Its purpose is to strengthen undergraduate education at U.S. research universities.

Position Summary

The UERU Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month Administrative Professional position and has primary responsibilities in event coordination, finance, and administrative support. Specifically, the UERU Coordinator will: 1) provide principal staff responsibility for logistical planning and execution of all UERU virtual events (usually 30-40 annually, including monthly town halls, bi-weekly hot topics discussions, and other specialized virtual gatherings), 2) provide principal staff management of MyUERU, UERU’s password-protected online community with many subcommunities, utilized by hundreds of constituents, which is about to undergo an upgrade to Higher Logic’s Thrive; 3) provide staff support for all UERU marketing and communications, and 4) provide staff support for online member services.

Overall result: Deliver high quality virtual events, cultivate a thriving online community on the MyUERU platform, and produce professional grade marketing and communications materials.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Ability to work remotely in accordance with UERU supervision of remote work and in accordance with CSU employment policies and practices.
  • Prior experience planning virtual events and ensuring accessibility and security.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • 2 years of professional experience in U.S. higher education, including specifically working for a research university, and/or experience working for an intermediary U.S. higher ed organization.
  • Familiarity with Higher Logic or other online member engagement platforms.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current issues in undergraduate education.

Duty/Responsibility

  • What is done? Planning and successfully executing ~30 to 40 UERU virtual events annually. Staffing in-person events as needed to support the UERU team.
  • How is it done? Maintaining contracts with online meeting providers. Sending calendar invites. Creating marketing materials. Creating run-of-show agendas and materials to prepare speakers. Helping to welcome guests and provide professional support, including technical support, for presenters. Monitoring event delivery with attention to accessibility and security. Collaborating with partners and sponsors. Moderating Q&As and chats and troubleshooting technical issues in real time. Collecting data following events, maintaining records, and assessing event effectiveness.
  • Why is it done? To build, support, and maintain vibrant non-place-bound communities among UERU’s many constituent groups.

Job Duty Category MyUERU Management

Duty/Responsibility

  • What is done? Day-to-day facilitation and tracking of MyUERU communications and activities (which involves dozens of groups and hundreds of participants).
  • How is it done? Undertaking Higher Logic Thrive training on the website and member engagement portal functioning. Providing introductions and training for members who are new to the online platform and answering member questions. Using platform functionality to initiate campaigns or other systemic forms of communication that provide useful reminders for UERU members. Creating targeted communications that facilitate group productivity. Engaging in personal interaction with UERU members. Analyzing usage data and other metrics to monitor and improve platform functionality. Maintain communication within the UERU Home Office Team concerning needs and trends identified via careful monitoring of the MyUERU platform.
  • Why is it done? To increase the return on UERU’s investment in a third-party online community engagement platform for the benefit of its diverse membership, and to avoid the negative consequences of “mass customization” and other marketing techniques.

  • What is done? Provide ad hoc support for members via MyUERU. Provide communications support for member benefits and professional development opportunities, for example the UVP Consultant and UVP Leadership Initiatives.
  • How is it done? Respond promptly to emails and MyUERU messages from members, maintain a positive and professional demeanor, attend to member feedback and communicate it upward to the AD and ED as needed.
  • Why is it done? To maintain a high level of member satisfaction and deliver value to all members.
