Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Retirement Actuary I/II!

About The Role

The RD Actuarial Financial Reporting team is looking for an actuary to join the team! We are seeking an actuary I or II to lead our Fixed Indexed Annuity (FIA) financial reporting work. This position will play a key role in FIA STAT and GAAP reserve setting, LDTI implementation, fixed annuity PBR (VM-22) implementation and other process enhancement project as needed.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annually FIA financial reporting work
  • Provide timely and comprehensive analysis on FIA inforce business financial performance
  • Respond to internal and external audit inquiries
  • Maintain and enhance FIA valuation model
  • As a subject matter expert, the role will serve as a point of contact for FIA STAT and GAAP reserving related topics, providing insights and education on FIA related topics
  • Integrate LDTI changes and stay apprised to FIA reserving related regulatory changes

Compensation

Salary Range: $100,300 – $202,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Who You Are

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with strong quantitative background including college level mathematics.
  • 5+ years of annuity related actuarial experience.
  • Finished with actuarial exams (FSA), or career ASAs with 15+ yrs. Exp (for Actuary II)
  • 7 to 8 actuarial exams. ASA designation required, might have FSA. (for Actuary I)
  • Has a profound understanding of fixed indexed annuity
  • Proven ability to adhere to due dates and strong sense of accountability
  • Ability to work collaboratively and guide junior actuaries
  • Experience with PolySystems and MG-ALFA a plus but not essential
  • High school diploma required
