Your missions

Job Overview

We are in search of a meticulous and committed Program Compliance Specialist to enhance our team remotely, primarily serving the Indianapolis area and its surrounding regions. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring adherence to HUD standards for multifamily project-based Section 8 housing, as part of federal government contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and inform property owners and agents regarding upcoming management review timelines. Prior to on-site evaluations, thoroughly examine all pertinent property data.
  • Execute Management, Occupancy, and Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) assessments of designated projects, conducting visits to approximately five properties monthly. Communicate in writing any health and safety violations discovered during reviews, ensuring appropriate corrective measures are implemented.
  • Analyze insights obtained during reviews and compile Management Review Reports. Distribute these reports to property owners, submit FHEO documentation to HUD, and maintain accurate records in the Integrated Real Estate Maintenance System (iREMS) and Automated Contract Administration Processing (ACAP) System.
  • Ensure timely updates to iREMS and ACAP for accurate record-keeping.
  • Cultivate and sustain constructive relationships with owners, managers, tenants, HUD representatives, and the broader public.
  • Perform all tasks with the utmost professionalism, precision, and adherence to established quality management protocols.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Program Compliance Manager.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HUD regulations and compliance mandates.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred; however, relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education.
  • A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible property management experience, particularly with multifamily project-based Section 8 properties, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with other Section 8 programs and financial analysis is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel within the state is mandatory. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and current automobile liability and collision insurance.
  • Completion of HUD Subsidized Multi-Family Housing Occupancy Training and successful passage of the Assisted Housing Manager Exam are required.
