Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll be crucial in managing general accounting activities in accordance with FERC standards and under the guidance of the Accounting Supervisor. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and various subsidiary records and ledgers.
  • Supporting work orders, inventory, and fixed asset functions.
  • Assisting with financial audit preparations, annual budgeting, external reporting, rate calculations, cash management, and payroll processing review.
  • Preparing and reconciling monthly bank statements, billing reports, and related documentation.
  • Maintaining and analyzing subsidiary records, ledgers, and financial statements.
  • Preparing financial schedules and reports for budgeting and external audits.
  • Supporting cash flow management by monitoring and reconciling banking and investment accounts.
  • Implementing process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and data integrity.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to provide accurate financial data and support.
  • Demonstrating cultural competency and contributing to a positive work environment.

What We're Looking For

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Six years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, budgeting principles, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Additional Information

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but provides system and process training to lower-level staff. You may assist with accounts payable and software/system updates. Ability to work outside normal business hours during emergency situations or special projects is required. Physical requirements include a normal office environment with occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs) and carrying (up to 25 lbs).
