Your missions

What you’ll get:

At Perlego we believe in the key role you will play to achieve our shared mission. You'll belong to a culture of dreamers, team players and avid learners with a flexible, value-based approach. Here, you can become your best self, and through your talent, make a real impact in the world of education.

What we do

At Perlego, there are over 100 of us working hard to make education accessible to all. We believe access to good quality affordable learning unlocks potential. Knowledge should be more accessible, not locked behind sky-high price tags.

Recently, we expanded our library to make over 1 million books affordable for learners, earned a 100% Gold ASPIRE rating for accessibility and reached over 15 million people. The next stage of Perlego is twofold: 1) expand our support to students and publishers globally, and 2) build a product that goes beyond the book, a platform that helps students study smarter and educators teach more effectively

How we work together

We work in a matrix structure and we organise ourselves into cross-functional tribes working together on common goals, with each tribe focusing on a specific domain and including all the necessary roles and skills to deliver on our objectives

As a Product Manager, you will be joining one of our product squads and own a critical journey point for our core product, delighting customers and achieving company objectives and goals.

What we're looking for

A result-driven Product Manager with experience building customer-facing digital experiences, to own the roadmap and drive product development for one of our cross-functional squads, and deliver solutions that move our company metrics.

In this role, you’ll be working within a core product tribe/domain, whose goal is to offer users a premium digital library and reading experience that exceeds expectations, using innovative technology to support and encourage learning.

What you’ll do

  • Gain a deep understanding of our products and customers, build empathy with users and develop continuous discovery practices in your squad.
  • Leverage data, insights and research findings to uncover and prioritise opportunities, define requirements and drive user satisfaction and business outcomes
  • Work with other Product Managers to implement product strategies, scoping and prioritising activities based on business and customer impact.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototype construction and final product development.
  • Own the roadmap and drive implementation for a cross-functional squad, maximising impact within your remit. Manage multiple bets and experiments in your backlog, sticking to realistic deadlines and pushing back when vital.
  • Lead your squad from idea to launch. Oversee the development process and ensure quality, usability and reliability standards are met and releases are smooth and frequent.
  • Maximise the impact of the work you and your squad are doing by driving go-to-market activities, collaborating with the marketing team, customer success, and other tribes and squads.
  • Define, monitor and analyse metrics for launched products, features and experiments; sharing findings to help grow a data-driven mindset in the team.
  • Advocate for Perlego’s mission and objectives, ensuring your squad is aligned and focused on the most impactful initiatives. Foster a culture of impact, performance, inclusivity and happiness in your squad.
  • Clearly communicate product plans, benefits and results to your squads and the wider company, creating buy-in with key stakeholders.
  • Act as a product evangelist, promote product management best practices and help scale the product team and discipline at Perlego.

Requirements

Who you are

  • A confident Product Manager 🚀 - Capable of formulating and advocating for a clear, impactful product strategy and roadmap, and working with a cross-functional squad to deliver on it. You have 3+ years of proven experience building consumer-facing products that drive consistent business results (in product management / product marketing / product design roles).
  • Product Marketing - you have a deep understanding of or experience with product marketing approaches that drive and support adoption and engagement and have excellent copywriting capabilities to ensure that messaging is impactful.
  • Always working at the intersection of business, technology and user experience ⛳️ - You have proven ability to build empathy with users and shape user centric products, and you are constantly looking to refine your instincts through user feedback and data insight. You partner with experts in the company to make informed technology and scope trade-offs to maximise value.
  • A user-centric product manager- You utilise both quantitative and qualitative data to inform and guide product decisions, but the core to your work is user centricity, ensuring that we deeply understand our users wants, needs, and pains in and out of our products.
  • A highly collaborative and trusted partner 🤝 - You are team-oriented and believe that building a product is a collaborative endeavour. You have a track record of driving impact and execution in a cross-disciplinary team, by building positive relationships and giving others the space to contribute at the right time. You contribute to a healthy, safe and productive team environment through empathy, integrity and inclusivity.
  • A reliable and result-driven problem-solver 🧠 - You leverage data to identify opportunities, guide decision-making and shape outcome-driven solutions, in alignment with company objectives. You approach problems with a solutions mindset, thinking both critically and creatively, balancing innovative ideas with reality, resources and business needs. You work hands-on and have a sleeves-rolled-up mentality.
  • An effective decision-maker ✅ - You can make hard trade-offs and prioritisation decisions between high-value items within given objectives. You can communicate your decisions effectively and manage stakeholders’ expectations. You are comfortable with uncertainty and can lead a team forward in ambiguous contexts, acknowledging what’s unknown but looking ahead and taking pragmatic action. You adapt to change with ease - testing, learning, and iterating to achieve optimal results.
  • An exceptional communicator 📣 - You are capable of translating highly technical or complex matters into understandable stories. You are comfortable with both writing and presenting to get your ideas heard and get consensus from a variety of collaborators. You believe in radical candour and can give and receive direct feedback to help things progress efficiently.

It’s a plus if you have ⭐️:

  • Experience working with Agile and/or Scrum
  • Experience with user research and testing
  • Experience within a D2C subscription experience with familiarity of engagement and retention measures of success
  • Experience with Figma, Miro, Jira, Amplitude or other relevant tools
  • Experience working in higher education or publishing domains, ideally Ed-Tech experience
  • Experience working in a matrixed organisation
  • Experience working on mobile applications

What success looks like for this role in 12 months
