Job Description

Arizona State University’s School of Social Work, within the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions, is seeking an Office Supervisor. Under administrative direction, the Office Supervisor will coordinate and direct the activities and functions of the Tucson School of Social Work (SSW) campus. Working with the Tucson SSW Program Coordinator, the Supervisor will ensure that the goals and objectives of the ASU Tucson School of Social Work are met in accordance with priorities, time constraints, funding limitations, and other specifications. The role also includes supervising, scheduling, and monitoring students and clerical office employees as assigned.


This position is based at the Tucson campus and on-site work will be required


Salary Range

$50,000 - $55,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Supervise activities of assigned subordinates.
  • Schedule, implement and revise work methods and procedures.
  • Establish, monitor and ensure adherence to quality and quantity standards.
  • As a member of and in coordination with the SSW Business Team oversee and ensure completion of business and human resources functions for the Tucson office.
  • Initiate or coordinate the preparation of reports and maintenance of records pertaining to the operation.
  • Interact with other department personnel to accomplish objectives.
  • Develop and monitor daily operations and coordinate program/project activities.
  • In coordination with administrator and SSW business team oversee expenditures, make recommendations on allocation of resources and monitor or administer expenditures throughout year.
  • Ensure reliability and accuracy of departmental computer databases; serve as liaison with implementation of technology.
  • Update Tucson information and manuals.
  • Facilitate development of training materials, training content, and/or workshops, meetings and; oversees logistics, scheduling and target audience communications.
  • Assist with the more specialized and difficult work activities of subordinates.


Minimum Qualifications

Six years of office/clerical experience, which includes two years of lead experience; OR, Associate's degree in Office Administration, Business Administration or a related field AND four years of clerical/administrative experience which includes two years of lead experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of effective communication skills along with interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting techniques, financial reconciliations and expense tracking reports.
  • Experience in the operation of a variety of office machines and software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of ASU Administrative and Financial Systems (Peoplesoft, Workday, Kenexa, TAS, DTA, Concur, SunRISE, Service Now, Aventri, Google Drive, and Salesforce).
  • Knowledge of University policies, practices and procedures.
  • Experience in being highly organized, working independently with minimal supervision, ability to multitask.
  • Skills in the area of event planning.


Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Use office equipment including a calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard and mouse), printer, fax and copier.
  • This position receives regular review of objectives.
  • Office location is at the Tucson Arizona State University School of Social Work Campus, 340 N. Commerce Park Loop, Suite 250, Tortolita Building.
