Description

This position is responsible for coordinating, writing, and delivering data sets and reports of all levels related to the Epic Revenue Cycle; including but not limited to Hospital/Professional Billing and Coding, Health Information Management, Patient Access. Identifying and coordinating data requirements from end-users into technical specifications, organizing the data for reporting, and producing both monthly and ad-hoc reports using business intelligence tools. Involves advanced understanding of data, Epic Clarity Revenue Cycle Data Model, and SQL.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training. Related Experience: roles such as Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or hands on use of skills such as SQL, databases, and Epic.
  • Incumbent will be required to be certified in assigned EMR vendor's product/module within the first 6 months of employment. Incumbent must satisfy all vendor testing requirements to be certified without needing to attend vendors training a second time for the same class.
  • Broad and/or in-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical informatics specialty areas. Knowledge of controlled terminology, clinical workflows, user interface optimization, clinical decision support, rules development, data integration and mining, clinical ontologies and adoption of technology.
  • Thorough knowledge of all relevant clinical informatics software and technology, and the complex concepts, principles, policies, methodologies, and industry standards and practices involved with patient care and electronic medical data management in the UC health care system.
  • Detail oriented, with proven ability to effectively manage time, see projects through to completion, organize competing priorities, and effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate productively, work in a team environment, and to train and support clinical informatics users at all professional and technical levels throughout the medical center
  • Strong problem-resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting, with the ability to select and run queries, collect and analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses.
  • Ability to work with senior staff and managers in clinical information technology, health care management, and business analytics, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance.
  • Knowledge and intermediate level experience working with Transact SQL, Crystal Reports 11, OLAP structures and/or other related technologies.
  • Extensive experience and working knowledge of all MS office products.
  • Knowledge and experience of database management technologies.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to working a group setting and group projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects independently, setting priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills, presentation and report writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic Clarity Certification.
  • Epic Cogito Certification.
  • Epic Clarity Revenue Cycle Data Model.
  • Epic Clarity Professional Billing Data Model, and/or Epic Clarity Hospital Billing Data Model.
  • Advanced level experience with database management and various third-party report building tools such as Crystal Reports, Cognos, SAS, and others.
  • Experience in a large, complex healthcare environment.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $94,400 - $176,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $45.21 - $84.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
