What You’ll Do

Ascent Global Logistics is looking for Sr. Software Development Manager to lead our Supply Chain Management Systems (SCMS) development teams and manage all aspects of the development process. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, be well-versed in modern front-end and back-end technologies and possess excellent leadership and project management skills. This position will play a key role in driving the strategic direction, development, and optimization of our Supply Chain Management applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage Agile development teams (front-end, back-end, and database developers).
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous improvement and growth within the team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and set development goals for team members.
  • Work closely with the project management, UX/UI design, and QA teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate with the PMO to provide resource allocation and availability, ensuring the right resources are aligned with project needs and capacity.
  • Collaborate with the PMO on project planning, reporting, and risk management to ensure alignment with business objectives and project goals.
  • Partner closely with Agile SCRUM Masters and Technical Project Managers within the PMO to drive successful delivery, track project progress, and manage dependencies.

Technical Expertise:

  • Architect, design, and implement supply chain solutions that are scalable, secure, and performant.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies, and incorporate them into the development process when appropriate.
  • Provide hands-on support to the team for complex coding tasks or debugging issues.
  • Review code and provide guidance to ensure best practices, code quality, and adherence to company standards.

Development & Maintenance:

  • Manage the design, development, and maintenance of front-end Angular and back-end Node.js applications.
  • Ensure optimal performance, scalability, and security of web applications.
  • Work with DevOps to maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for rapid and reliable software delivery.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to manage hosting environments, server infrastructure, and databases.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

  • Evaluate and manage external vendors and contractors, ensuring they deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Regularly report on team performance, project status, and potential risks to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience leading development teams.
  • 5+ years of leadership or managerial experience in a development environment.
  • Proficient in modern front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Vue.js) and back-end technologies (Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Python, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of databases (SQL, NoSQL), cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
  • Experience with complex system integrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage development teams to deliver high-quality projects on time.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and serverless technologies.
  • Experience in Supply Chain Logistics a plus
