Geotab is seeking an Associate Vice President, Product Marketing who will build and lead the Product Marketing team and shape the Product Marketing discipline. What you'll do:

As an Associate Vice President, Product Marketing your key area of responsibility will be to own end-to-end Product marketing - both the strategic vision and tactical go-to-market execution for Geotab’s offerings. The AVP, Product Marketing will build and lead the Product Marketing team and shape the Product Marketing discipline. This includes defining the role Product Marketing plays in both the Product/Research and Development organization as well as the Marketing teams. The AVP and team will own Geotab’s product go-to-market strategies, and ultimately be accountable for product storytelling and product growth at Geotab. You will need to work closely with Geotab product, sales, and marketing to drive product and solution go-to-market strategy and execution, as well as elevate the company, platform, product and solution messaging and positioning.

  • Tell the product & portfolio story in a simple, clear, and compelling way to differentiate & share Geotab and our products with the world.
  • Build the overall product marketing roadmap for growth through your team. Define how we’ll achieve the next level of growth.
  • Organize & orchestrate your team to bring our products to life through collaboration with our marketing teams and ongoing efforts.
  • Design and develop the roadmap for the Product Marketing discipline at Geotab; including job leveling, role descriptions, key rituals for team cohesiveness and development.
  • Own end-to-end Product marketing - both strategic vision and tactical go-to-market execution for Geotab’s offerings.
  • Provide input and recommendations into product roadmap, strategy, and positioning based on market and customer research findings, voice of customer/partner, and industry analyst interactions. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, to ensure alignment and support for product marketing initiatives.
  • Drive innovation in product marketing strategies, leveraging new technologies and methodologies to stay ahead of market trends.
  • Lead crisis communication efforts related to product issues, ensuring clear and effective messaging to maintain customer trust and brand integrity.
  • Develop and implement global product go-to-market strategies, considering regional nuances and market conditions.
  • Oversee the product marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize impact and ROI.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of product marketing initiatives and make data-driven adjustments as needed.
  • Leader. Build the team, and organizational trust to execute.
  • Responsible for influencing, communicating, managing, and implementing departmental strategic plans and budgets and to recommend policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to strategy development and is accountable for strategy execution for the team.
  • Develop and communicate a compelling vision for the Product Marketing function, aligning it with Geotab’s overall business strategy.
  • Provide development, coaching, and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Maintain a positive, constructive relationship with direct reports, a cohesive culture amongst teammates, and provide real-time feedback to team members.
  • Support with all talent management programs and exercises including resource planning, performance management, and employee professional development.
What you'll bring to the role
  • 8-10 years of experience building and leading product marketing teams. Must have experience leading a team of multiple Product Marketers across a broad spectrum of product areas.
  • Bachelor's in Engineering/Computer Science/Business.
  • MBA or other advanced degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field is highly valued.
  • Certifications in digital marketing, product management, or related fields (e.g., Pragmatic Marketing, Google Analytics) are a plus.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with product & marketing colleagues.
  • Proven ability to provide the overall marketing direction for a solution, or set of solutions in an industry or functional area, including building a market-driven business case, developing a marketing and launch plan, creating compelling messaging based on customer pain points, and working closely with customers, industry experts, press and analysts.
  • Ambitious. Self starter, resourceful with strong analytical skills with the ability to find creative ways to grow products; An entrepreneurial drive and work ethic.
  • Organized. Keep the team, and multiple stakeholder teams on track, and on message. 
  • Deep understanding of technology and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences; Passion for technology and technical products.
  • Strategic mindset, with a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes
  • Analytical. View growth marketing problems with an analytical lens.
  • Experience working with ecosystem partners, technology partners and system integrators to develop and implement partner marketing plans.
  • Proven experience in leading change management initiatives, particularly in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience in managing global teams and understanding of international markets and cultural differences.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure buy-in and resources for product marketing initiatives.
  • A track record of innovative thinking and the ability to develop unique marketing strategies that differentiate Geotab in the marketplace.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including:
    • Good listener, empathetic and enjoy interacting wit, and learning from, customers
    • Ability to stitch together disparate insights to uncover common patterns
    • Strong presentation skills (in person and virtually) and ability to deliver training effectively
  • Ability to travel occasionally with a valid passport is required.
