Responsibilities

Telesat is developing a highly innovative global network composed of 198 state-of-the-art Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, seamlessly integrated with on-ground data networks. Peraton's OS/COMET product is currently used to support existing operations of their legacy satellites and we hope to continue our relationship with Lightspeed.

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer to develop TT&C and Satellite Mission Management and Scheduling software in support of our mission critical customers and the OS/COMET COTS software product.

This is primarily a remote position for a candidate within commutable distance to the Peraton facility in Melbourne, FL; the candidate may commute periodically to Melbourne and travel to other locations as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, and development of computer software systems, including requirement analysis, design, development, and test of software products.
  • Requires the application of the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis..
  • Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Utilizes software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects and ability to handle routine tasks. Solves problems of moderate scope/complexity.
  • Demonstrates a strong grasp of debugging skills.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA with minimum of 2 years of experience; MS/MA with 0 years of experience; 6 years of additional experience may be applicable in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience designing and developing software utilizing Java/C/C++.
  • Software development methodologies and life cycles.
  • Satellite Mission Operations and Telemetry, Tracking, & Control SW
  • Experience with Linux, preferably RHEL 8.x/9.x.
  • Familiarity with the Agile Product Development Cycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Amazon Web Services cloud architecture and tools associated with cloud development and security.
  • Active involvement in the peer-review process, to include providing thorough code reviews and receiving critical feedback.
  • Client-side development using HTML5, JavaScript, Python, and CSS3.
  • Experience with Server-side development through REST
  • Designing and developing software for Satellite Mission Management or TT&C applications

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
