About Our Client

Our client is a large publicly listed company who have been servicing customers in Malaysia for over 30 years. They specialise in the heavy industries which include construction and property development.

Job Description

Develop and execute the organisations sustainability and ESG strategy in alignment with corporate goals.
Lead the integration of ESG considerations into business operations, risk management, and decision-making processes. Drive the adoption of best practices in sustainability across the organization.
Provide thought leadership on sustainability issues and trends, advising senior management and the Board on relevant topics.
Formulate and implement sustainability policies, standards, and frameworks.
Ensure compliance with local and international ESG regulations and reporting requirements.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, customers, regulators, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Represent the organisation at industry forums, conferences, and sustainability initiatives.
Foster partnerships and collaborations to advance the organisations sustainability agenda.
Oversee the preparation and publication of the organisations annual sustainability report.
Ensure accurate and transparent ESG reporting in accordance with the relevant standards.
Monitor and report on key ESG performance indicators and sustainability targets.
Identify and assess ESG-related risks and opportunities. Develop mitigation strategies for sustainability-related risks.
Collaborate with risk management teams to integrate ESG risks into the overall risk management framework. Lead the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives and programs.
Build and lead a high-performing sustainability team. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members. Foster a culture of sustainability across the organization.

The Successful Applicant

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have a track record leading the Sustainability/ESG department, ideally of a medium - large organisation. Previous experience building a Sustainability/ESG department from the ground-up will be highly regarded. The role requires somebody with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who has previous experience engaging with and influencing senior executives within a business.
