Our client is an Israeli biotech company that uses computational biology and machine learning to create detailed models of human diseases at the cellular level. The main focus is on helping pharmaceutical companies improve drug discovery and development, and to accelerate the development of more effective and personalized medicines.
As part of the existing client’s single, unified team you will be entrusted to work on transforming complex bilogical data into actionable insights and building robustm user-friendly applications.
Requirements:
Technical Skills:
- Strong software engineering skills with at least of 6 years of commercial experience.
- Expert in Python programming and related frameworks.
- Experienced in R programming and Data Science/Life Science domain.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS would be a big plus.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD and other.
- Proficience in security best practices, including encryption and secure data handling.
- Proven experience in work estimation, progress tracking and corrective actions implementation.
- Good analytical skills and ability to identify and address potential bottlenecks, performance issues, and other technical challenges.
Data Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with data manipulation, analysis, and visualization using R.
- Knowledge of database systems and SQL is advantageous.
- Familiarity with R packages such as limma, DESeq, and GSEA, or similar tools, is an advantage
Algorithm Development:
- Experience in developing and implementing algorithms for the life sciences and bioinformatics field.
Documentation:
- Strong skills in developing and maintaining project documentation (i.e. technical specifications, diagrams, state transition flows, reports, instructions, etc.)
- Analyze Client’s needs and transform them into the requirements and actionable technical specifications.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Self manageable, detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality work.
- Proactive, with strong accountability skills.
- English – proven B2 or better.
Education:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and exceptional experience may also be considered.
- Proven experience in R programming with a focus on life sciences and bioinformatics applications.
Job Responsibilities:
We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Python Engineer with experience working OR ability to rapidly familiarize with R programming language, data visualization, and the development of algorithms relevant to the life science or data science field.
The candidate would become a part of the Client’s team to:
- Develop and maintain current R applications to support life sciences and bioinformatics projects with further solution transition to Python.
- Create dynamic and insightful data visualizations to support research and business decisions.
- Develop and implement algorithms tailored to solve problems in the life sciences and bioinformatics domain.
- Write efficient, reusable, and reliable code; ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
- Collaborate with bioinformaticians, data scientists, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Effectively present work results and updates to the Client, ensuring clear communication of technical details.
