We are looking for a co-op student to support our growing compensation consulting team on several current and up and coming client projects, and other initiatives.  We’re looking for someone with superb communication and leadership skills, who is highly motivated, has a fine eye for detail, and can juggle multiple tasks and deliverables. You’ll gain insights into the world of consulting and work with our industry leading consulting professionals to develop your career.

This is an eight (8) month co-op opportunity for students looking to start in January 2025.

A typical day-in-the life of a Compensation Analyst Co-op involves performing data analysis in excel, understanding compensation trends to inform clients on compensation related inquires, supporting internal projects, and meeting with clients. As a team member, you will be providing project management and administrative support to ensure projects remain on schedule are organized and contains key pertinent information to facilitate a best-in-class client experience. As a new practice (started in mid-2022) we’re very entrepreneurial in nature. You have the ability to shape the way we grow our business!

As you start your journey as a Compensation Analyst Co-op, you can expect to receive 1-on-1 coaching and training with the leadership team which will help you quickly develop your expertise as a compensation professional. Through the various projects and client work you’ll be involved in, you can expect to be exposed to numerous learning opportunities in data analysis/ manipulation, creating succinct reporting, and leadership presentations. While the life of consulting may come with unique demands, we believe in work-life balance and as a co-op with Eckler’s compensation practice, you can expect work a standard 9-5 workday in a flexible hybrid environment with a great culture in the office. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support consulting team members on client projects by providing high-touch data analysis covering a wide-spread of broad compensation activities, including external market analysis using salary surveys, salary structure design, executive pay, incentive plan design, pay equity, and job evaluation
  • Utilize Excel-based reporting to build compensation related tools, dashboards, and analysis by adopting advance techniques to compute, aggregate and conduct comparative market comparisons 
  • Conduct market benchmarking by reviewing client data, determining appropriate peer groups, and performing data compilation/ aggregation among multiple sources, sectors, and industry databases
  • Support custom external market compensation survey activities relating to questionnaire set up, create job capsules, survey tracking, database management, administration, data validation, and client communications
  • Support the job evaluation process by reviewing and creating job descriptions, evaluating roles using a job evaluation methodology
  • Interpret data and derive key market insights for client and other reports
  • Collect, organize, track, and interpret client pay program information and policy material
  • Support consultants on project management duties, including managing client documentation, coordination, scheduling, meeting note documentation, and general status tracking
  • Conduct research and perform financial analyses of industry sectors and client peer groups to understand business strategy, corporate performance, compensation and rewards practices and trends
  • Support the team in preparation of client and business development related presentations and executive reports; translating data into broader total rewards themes and recommendations, utilizing multiple applications including word, excel and power point
  • Support the development of business development materials such as website development, brochures, infographics, and other marketing collateral

 What you offer

  • Currently pursuing a post secondary Degree with specialization in HR management, mathematics, or business/ commerce/ economics
  • Experience in data analysis, consulting, or compensation experience
  • Analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel combined with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established standards and procedures
  • Ability to work in a team environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Strong writing and research skills is considered an asset
