Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, as an Intern, you will help the Global Customer Care Business Intelligence Quality Assurance team with developing, implementing, and publishing systems which will form the framework for the various quality activities executed by the Global Customer Care team.

Possible assignments may include supporting the development, education, and promotion of the Business Intelligence team’s output. These may include usage validation, requirements gathering, development of small-scale reporting/analysis.

You will have the opportunity to use and develop multiple skills in this role:

  • Data Analysis - opportunity to apply statistical analysis, data modeling and data visualization.
  • Statistical Knowledge – apply solid understanding of statistical concepts especially percentile, confidence intervals, etc.
  • Programming and Data Manipulation - proficiency in Python (maybe R), SQL, etc. to ease loading and building of analytic models.
  • Problem Solving/Critical thinking - an ability to analyze situations, identify patterns and propose data driven solutions.

The Must Haves:

  • Currently engaged in a Bachelor’s level degree in a business or technical field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Proven knowledge of statistical concepts
  • Proficiency in Python, R and SQL for building of analytic models.

The pay range for this position is $20.00-$27.00/hour

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
