So, what’s the role?

Kin Insurance is currently seeking a Claims Litigation Manager with extensive experience leading teams and handling first-party litigated claims, especially in complex jurisdictions such as Florida, Louisiana, California, and Texas.

Here, you can lend your expertise and help us continue to revolutionize the insurance landscape, driving exceptional customer outcomes while ensuring compliance and operational efficiency. In this role, you will oversee and mentor a team of supervisors and claims professionals, with a strong focus on optimizing litigation management processes and ensuring alignment.

A day in the life could include ...

  • Team Leadership & Strategy Development: Leading your team by setting clear goals and providing insight on strategy, mentoring, and ensuring smooth operations.

  • Litigation Management: Serving as our primary liaison between our litigation team, internal departments, and external counsel; overseeing all legal case management activities and strategies, from pre-suit (FL Notice of Intent to Initiate Litigation, TX 542A/DTPA, LA presuit notices, etc.) to initial litigation, to determinative motions to final resolutions.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Building and maintaining strong working relationships with departments such as IT, Claims Legal, Marketing, Underwriting, Customer Service, Agency and Vendor Management to align litigation strategies with broader company goals.

  • Claims Evaluation & Settlements: Reviewing and authorizing claim strategies and resolutions, ensuring that decisions are backed by thorough coverage analysis for moderate to complex cases.

  • Performance Monitoring: Tracking and analyzing team performance metrics, proactively identifying trends and addressing any deficiencies to maintain a high standard of work.

  • Litigation Strategy Creation: Partnering with Claims Counsel, litigation team and defense counsel to create tailored defense or settlement strategies for each case, ensuring the best outcomes for the company and our members.

  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Handling escalated issues and complex litigation matters, offering expert guidance to your team to achieve appropriate, efficient and fair resolutions.

  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly reviewing processes and outcomes, offering recommendations for process improvements and business solutions based on root-cause analysis.

I’ve got the skills...but do I have the necessary ones?

  • 5-7 years of experience managing first-party property claims for a carrier, with a proven track record of resolving complex, high-stakes cases.

  • 3 years of litigation management experience, with at least 1 year of second-line carrier management experience overseeing litigation teams, successfully navigating environments such as Florida, Louisiana, California, and Texas, and delivering strong case outcomes while mentoring and developing team members.

  • Outstanding ability to analyze complex claims and litigation issues, identify root causes, and navigate diverse regulatory frameworks.

  • Adept at analyzing intricate cases and crafting litigation strategies that balance risk, cost, and resolution speed, driving outcomes that benefit both the company and policyholders.

  • An inspiring leader with a passion for coaching and mentoring, committed to fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture that promotes professional development and engagement.

  • Capable of translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable insights for team members, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership.

  • A collaborative mindset to brainstorm and listen to others ideas regarding strategy and options.

  • Currently holds an active Florida or Texas Adjuster’s License, or an adjuster’s license in a reciprocal state, with familiarity in managing compliance with state and federal regulations.

Oh, and don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

  • Remote Work and flexible work hours

  • Flexible PTO policy
