Position Summary: 

Responsible for providing project management support of operational risk events for PRA Group Inc.’s Corporate Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”) Division. Primary focus includes managing and reporting on operational risk events, executing and improving the operational risk management process, and providing strategic insights & trend analysis on operational risks. Performs a project management function for operational risk. Working closely with other internal departments as part of cross-functional stakeholder team, evaluates operational incidents for risk severity and as potential operational risk events, determine and delegate responsibilities with the team via a risk mitigation plan, and steer efforts to complete both root cause analysis (“RCA”) of identified issues and remediation efforts to close out the operational risk event. This position will also support other analysis and projects related to ERM.

Key Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Execution of the operational risk management process
  • Leads and/or participates in cross-functional teams to effect proper scoping, mitigation, and closure of operational risk events.
  • Builds and executes projects related to operational risk events, such as plans, schedules, and meetings.
  • Develops and produces insightful reports related to operational risk for stakeholders and committees.
  • Routinely evaluate the operational risk management process for gaps and opportunities for improvements, with subsequent execution and implementation
  • Maintains a current knowledge of applicable consumer protection laws and regulations, business operations and internal Compliance policies and procedures, such as to facilitate effective execution of the operational risk management process.
  • Supports the Company as a subject matter expert in operational risk management.
  • Creates and maintain documentation including policy, procedure, and process documentation at the direction of ERM leadership.

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or a demonstrable equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management or related field
  • 3-5 years of related work experience in financial services, business continuity, or operational risk
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and achieving agreed outcomes
  • Ability to proactively identify, understand, openly discuss, and act on operational risk issues at an executive level with a risk management mindset
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees at different levels from various departments
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a track record for completing work in a timely and organized fashion with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate with strong written and verbal skills and ability to discuss risk management issues in business language
  • Ability and interest in learning new skills and in mastering new tools, such as to facilitate effective execution of the aforementioned key responsibilities
  • Occasional travel to Norfolk, VA office.

Salary Range:

$60,000.00 - $90,000.00

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, specific working location and market position.
