The salary range for this position is $60,669.00- $100,104.00, however our target hiring range is $60,669.00- $80,387.00. Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work from the Neighborhood Resource Sites 3 days per week, and off site/work from home 2 days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

Human Services Operation Supervisors perform front line supervisory duties, and oversee the operations for the Neighborhood Resource Sites (NRS) for Denver Human Services Family and other teams in the Adult Assistance Division (FAAD). The team is seeking an enthusiasticpositive-minded LEADER for the role of Operations Supervisor.

As the Human Services Operations supervisor you will:

  • Be the first point of contact for the Neighborhood Resource Sites (NRS) which includes keeping an open line of communication between employees and other contacts at the NRS sites

  • Supervise and evaluate the work of employees who interview applicants to obtain information and determine initial and on-going eligibility for public assistance programs and evaluates the work of employees who coordinate services for clients vulnerable to homelessness

  • Determine work priorities, monitor workloads, and develop work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage.

  • Provide work instruction and assist employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments and encourage innovation.

  • Explain procedures, policies and work-flow to staff and customers. This will include understanding public assistance eligibility rules and processing timeliness guidelines

  • Investigate the eligibility for and the accuracy of payments in assistance programs, determine if proper procedures were used, and seek methods to correct any errors

  • Perform quality review of case management coordinators’ work to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal guidelines related to public assistance programs as mandated by the federal government and ensure that federal reporting deadlines are met to avoid federal funding and fiscal sanctions

  • Prepare and/or direct the preparation of records and reports and ensures that staff members enter and update information into the state and county computer systems

  • Train new staff members on applicable standards, regulations, and requirements for the assigned work area(s), orient staff with appropriate policies and procedures, and ensure that work conforms to policies, standards, and regulations

  • Develop goals, document performance, provide performance feedback and formally evaluates the work of the employee

  • Responsible for staff time-keeping, discipline, hiring actions, and general supervisory duties

  • Document causes for disciplinary action and initiates letters of reprimand and formal recommendations for disciplinary action

  • This position will require traveling to various community-partner sites on a weekly basis

  • A strong background in determining eligibility for public assistance programs.

  • Knowledge and experience in eligibility programs, specifically Food Assistance and Medicaid. (Adult Financial and Colorado Works knowledge a plus)

  • Database systems experience in Colorado Benefits Management System

  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and have an uncompromising work-ethic

  • Be excited to work in a team-based environment, where they will not only support and motivate their team, but work alongside them when needed  

  • A strong desire to work with vulnerable, at-risk populations

  • Demonstrate exemplary customer services skills

  • Enjoys the challenge of working in fast-paced, diverse, multifaceted environment 

  • Previous leadership or supervisor experience

  • Professional level experience processing client referrals within the community

  • Professional level experience working with community-based partners and organizations

  • Professional level experience utilizing PC applications including Adobe and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

  • Professional level experience with process improvement and or program management

  • Experience with training or teaching new processes, programs, or rules/policy to staff

  • Strong conflict resolution and trouble shooting skills

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate

  • Experience Requirement: Five (5) years of experience performing technical, paraprofessional, and/ or administrative work (this does not include office support work).

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

  • License & Certification: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
