We’re actively seeking a talented Business Analyst - Systems Control Analyst to join our Cloud Management team in Newport Beach, CA; Omaha, NE, or Lynchburg, VA. This role can be on-site, on a hybrid schedule, or 100% remote for the right candidate (depending on location).

The Business Analyst is a new role which will serve as a key contributor within the Cloud Management team, supporting key initiatives to creating an ideal modeling state for Pacific Life actuaries. This role will be responsible for developing and testing new processes to improve controls and stability around our modeling environment to reduce cloud spend and create a more seamless modeling experience for our business users. This role will also be tasked with investigating possible avenues for automating production processes for actuarial teams.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Work with the Cloud Management Lead to establish structure and processes for our modeling teams to work within our APLAWS cloud environment.

  • Provide rigorous testing of newly established processes to demonstrate minimal impact on business.

  • Facilitate relationships with business teams to develop cloud requirements to ensure effective environment design.

  • Provide guidance in the use of tools developed by cloud management team.

  • Document and develop training to utilize production tools.

  • Develop monitoring tools to track use of Prophet cloud servers and associated spend.

  • Ensure the seamless integration within the various Prophet applications and external actuarial systems and processes.

  • Identify deficiencies in current modeling processes and development of solutions.

  • Monitor model and grid performance and communicate with modeling team where opportunities for improvement are identified.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional project team of developers, data/IT, and business stakeholders. 

The experience you bring:

  • Demonstrated excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills.  

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, finance, engineering, computer science or another quantitative related field is preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in analytical or technical role.

  • Proven success driving execution of complex initiatives.

  • Exceptional organizational, quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Familiarity insurance industry and actuarial processes a plus.

  • Advanced ability in scripting languages (VBA, Python, etc.)

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$80,730.00 - $98,670.00
