We are looking for a Manager of Cloud Engineering to focus on our EverCommerce Payments product line powered by PaySimple. PaySimple is the leading provider of payment management solutions for over 20,000 SMBs. Our APIs and SaaS products provide payment acceptance, billing automation, client management, ecommerce, mobile, and point-of-sale solutions tailored to the needs of service-based businesses.
As a Manager of Cloud Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud-based systems, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. This role requires strong technical expertise in cloud technologies, as well as leadership skills to manage a team of cloud engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management Lead a team of cloud engineers with a focus on building and maintaining PCI-compliant cloud environments for multiple products. Provide training and guidance to foster a security-first culture.
- Expertise in PCI (Payment Card Industry) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) Compliance Implement network segmentation, firewall rules, and access controls to protect cardholder and financial data. Manage audits and assessments, working with internal teams and external auditors.
- Design and Implement Cloud Solutions Collaborate daily with development teams to implement cloud-based solutions on AWS to meet business requirements. Automate the deployment and management of AWS resources.
- Monitoring, Incident Response, and Log Management Implement monitoring solutions to track platform performance and detect incidents. Develop and maintain an incident response plan. Implement log retention policies and ensure compliance.
- Collaboration and Communication Work closely with development, compliance officers, and other stakeholders to ensure cloud practices align with broader organizational goals and priorities. Communicate platform status, risks, and mitigation strategies to leadership and non-technical stakeholders. Coordinate with third-party vendors to manage cloud services and contracts.
- Cloud Cost Management Monitor and analyze cloud spending across all accounts to ensure alignment with the organizational budget. Assist in forecasting costs, identifying reasons for cost overruns, and capturing significant shift in expenses.
Skills and Experience needed for success in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering with a focus on AWS.
- Extensive experience with AWS Services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, KMS, etc.).
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL database administration and optimization.
- Knowledge of PCI DSS, SOC 2, and SOX compliance and how to apply to cloud environments.
- Experience in programming and scripting languages such as PowerShell, C#, or Python.
- Knowledge of deploying solutions using the Microsoft technology stack, including .NET, SQL Server, IIS, etc.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to lead a team focused on engineering excellence.
- Experience with centralized log management, log retention policies and alerting.
Where: This position is a remote/hybrid position located in the US or Canada.
The EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with teams in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Jordan, New Zealand, and Australia. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada – if you’re close to one of our offices, we can set you up in-office or you can work 100% remotely. Please note that you must be eligible to work without sponsorship to qualify for this position, and this role may require travel to our Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or to other office locations around North America.

Compensation: The target base compensation for this position is $140,000 to $200,000 USD per year in most US locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including location, local market variances, and candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
