Your missions

Voleon is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to real-world problems in finance. For more than a decade, we have led our industry and worked at the frontier of applying machine learning to investment management. We have become a multibillion-dollar asset manager, and we have ambitious goals for the future.

Your colleagues will include internationally recognized experts in machine learning research as well as highly experienced technology and finance professionals. The people who shape our company come from other backgrounds, too, including concert music performances, humanitarian aid, opera singing, sports writing, and BMX racing. You will be part of a team that loves to succeed together.

In addition to our enriching and collegial working environment, we offer highly competitive compensation and benefits packages, technology talks by our experts, a beautiful modern office, daily catered lunches, and more.

As our Senior Payroll and Benefits Analyst, you will work closely with the People Operations team and other key teams such as Finance to manage payroll and benefits across our growing organization. This role will report to the Senior Manager, People Operations and be a part of our People Operations team. This role is a means to make a difference: you will engage in some of our highest-priority operational efforts, and you will provide essential services to our employees.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Manage payroll and benefits administration for a roughly 250-person US employee population and a roughly 30-person international employee population
  • Manage payroll processing in ADP, including semi-monthly multi-state/multi-entity payroll processing, monthly international payroll processing, time off maintenance and tracking, processing timesheets, managing 401(k) remittances, and maintaining payroll reports and spreadsheets accurately and securely
  • Develop and maintain payroll processes, procedures and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to payroll and benefits, including tax-related items.
  • Complete new state registrations and respond promptly to local and state notices. Complete key payroll projects such as W2 distribution
  • Support the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement, etc.). Participate in annual benefits projects, including open enrollment, annual 401k NDT testing and audit support, worker’s compensation renewals and updates
  • Conduct audits of payroll, benefits, and other HR programs. Resolve any payroll or benefits discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner
  • Coordinate within the People Operations team to ensure accurate and timely processing of new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations. Support overall HRIS data entry and maintenance
  • Provide excellent employee service, including answering employee requests and questions about payroll and benefits. Ensure employee changes to withholdings, benefits and/or direct deposits are timely and accurate
  • Review payroll- and benefit-related invoices

  • Requirements:
  • 5+ years’ experience processing muti-state payroll. International payroll experience (e.g. UK) is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Strong knowledge of payroll practices, tax laws, and regulations
  • Proficiency in payroll software (ADP and/or Workday preferred, but not required) and MS Office, especially Excel
  • Experience implementing new payroll systems. Workday implementation experience is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • The base salary range for this position is $115,000 to $125,000 in the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, 20 days of paid time off, 9 sick days, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
