Job Overview 

The Littleton Group is looking for an experienced Casualty Field Adjuster to investigate and evaluate losses while developing a plan of action to bring claims to a proper resolution in a timely manner while meeting the guidelines and needs of the client. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will determine the extent of insurance coverage and liability on each filed claim.  

 

To be successful in this role, you must possess superior time management skills with the capability of working with and meeting deadlines, demonstrate high level attention to detail and problem-solving skills, and be proactive and independent while taking initiative with consistent follow through. You must have at least 5 years of experience handling liability and physical property damage claims. Additionally, you will need to exhibit the exceptional capability to multi-task and prioritize with excellent organization and documentation skills and utilize discretion with sensitive and confidential information. This role is a full-time, home-based, and field-based position in the state of Texas.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Determine extent of insurance coverage and liability on each filed claim
  • Investigate claims, including, but not limited to, interviewing claimants, insureds, and witnesses
  • Conduct thorough inspections of insured and/or claimant property  
  • Obtain necessary records, including but not limited to, hospital records, police reports, and physician records
  • Utilize appropriate preferred vendors
  • Present thorough and accurate reports including photographs, statements (written or recorded) to clients and excess carriers on claim investigations
  • Determine the amount of the claim payout
  • Negotiate settlements for resolution with claimants and their attorneys while controlling litigation activities and costs based on account requirements 
  • Work directly with attorneys and expert witnesses to defend insurer’s position if claimant contests claim outcome
  • Effectively address and maintain incoming documents in a consistent and timely manner 
  • Attend meetings, mediations, conferences, workshops, or training sessions
  • Review written material to maintain current knowledge on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas
  • Respond to client questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner
  • Travel as required for claim or scene investigations as deemed necessary
  • Utilize standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience handling Casualty/Liability and Physical Damage claims
  • Prior experience conducting investigations in multi-party situations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Possess an active Texas Adjuster License
  • Maintain and meet state specific licensing requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent written communication skills necessary to compile and present extremely detailed written reports to the client to ensure full documentation of each completed claim investigation
  • Display thorough knowledge of current principles and practices associated with claims investigations, adjusting, and related practices
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of medical and legal terminology with a thorough understanding of legal principles and litigation management
  • Exhibit strong capability of understanding multi-state laws and regulations to assist other offices, as necessary
  • Ability to be on call after hours to provide claim service on scheduled weeks throughout the year

 

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 
  • Possession of New Mexico Adjuster License
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

Position Type, Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a home-based, full time, draw plus commission, exempt position that operates from a professional office-based and field-based environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk. This role requires the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand as necessary. This role also requires the physical ability to travel for day-to-day field work.
