Medical Records Team Lead Requirements
  • RN, LPN, LCSW, LMHC, or related clinical experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience with Commercial and Medicaid payers in behavioral healthcare (substance abuse/mental health)
  • Familiarity with DSM Diagnostic Codes, ASAM Criteria, LOCUS, and InterQual Criteria
  • Experience with preparing appeal letters and medical necessity documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing a small team (5-10 people)
  • Proficiency in medical records software and workflows
Medical Records Team Lead Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the medical records department, ensuring all workflows are efficient and compliant
  • Review and validate medical records requests, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy
  • Prepare and proofread clinical appeal letters, medical necessity documentation, and other medical record submissions
  • Manage the ongoing organization of medical records and ensure timely submissions
  • Collaborate with Utilization Review, Billing, and Quality Care teams to meet payer and regulatory requirements
  • Compile and analyze data to identify trends and report back to the executive team with solutions
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR
  • Participate in internal meetings, training, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Pay: $70,000 - $85,000
Schedule: Full-time
