The person will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets to provide actionable insights that support the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO) in making data-driven decisions. This role requires advanced analytical skills, proficiency in statistical methods, and expertise in data visualization tools. The Data Scientist will work closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs, develop models, and create dashboards that inform strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Data Analysis and Modeling: Analyze large and complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights. Develop statistical models and algorithms to support decision- making processes.
• Data Visualization: Create interactive dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar. Present data in a clear and compelling manner to stakeholders.
• Data Collection and Management: Design and implement data collection processes. Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security in all data handling activities.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and requirements. Provide data-driven recommendations to support strategic initiatives.
• Reporting: Develop and deliver regular reports on key metrics and performance indicators. Ensure that reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with stakeholder needs.
• Machine Learning and AI: Apply machine learning techniques to develop predictive models. Continuously improve models based on new data and feedback.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data sources, methodologies, and findings. Ensure that all documentation is accessible and understandable to stakeholders.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data science. Implement best practices and innovative techniques to enhance data analysis capabilities.
Required Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization. Experience with government contracting and defense projects is highly desirable.
Skills:
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL
• Expertise in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar
